Video Editing

I used Adobe premiere pro at school and I really like the program a lot but it is a little to expensive for me. I am wondering if there is any free or cheaper editing software? I know i can download adobe premiere pro using bit torrent but I do not want to mess with getting a virus or anything.

I use Pinnacle Studio, it is now own by Avid, for the price it has plenty of functionality. It's more of a prosumer product, similar to something such as iMovie or Sony Vegas.
