CD BURNER PROBLEM!!!!! help i beg you

Alright, been trying to burn cds, but everytime i do it says "cd burner is in use by another application other then itunes" There is only ONE username on my computer. I have no other applications open, so i don't know how to fix this problem.
Then if it's not saying that it's saying "this is not a blank cd"....when it CLEARLY is...i just got a new pack of cds. They're CD-Rs btw...compatible.
Please someone tell me what to do.

Make sure your drivers are up to date.

ATAPI devices don't require drivers. Did this just start happening with the new media? Flip a cd over and put it in. If it still give you the same error you know that it's not recognizing the blank media. Does anything burn in any other application?
