Hey, so popSiren isnt a bad show. It has potential. But some constructive criticism

As with the digg reel, the audio is shocking. The actual quality is good, its the volume that is the problem. You need to whack a compressor over it, or even better adjust each clips volume so they are the same.

When the archery segment came on the volume jumps by a few decibels, not a very pleasant thing to hear. And in the scene with the Rubens tube the amount of sibilence was unbearable, i had to drop the 8k pot in my eq down all the way to listen to it.

The show itself is good, however the post production needs to focus on the audio aswell as the video.

sounds fine after a 12 pack of Guinness, but the voice is a bit off the video. unless that was caused by me pausing it

As for Heather's segment from the field ... of course it was louder. How else was she going to be heard back in the studio?

I'm in agreement ojk007 and thanks for the sharp ears. Part of the problem is a few of the segments were shot before our studio was completely sound proofed. Those fast reflections don't help much with sibilance.

The in line compressors haven't been put "in line" per say, in the studio. We're bypassing them until we can properly set them up. Consistent dynamics are pretty crucial with web video, given the viewers wide range of playback devices. We really don't have a post audio department, so us editors end up being jack of all trades! I'll be trying to set some of the precious edit time aside to export an omf to pro tools in order to create a pristine final mix.

love the positive aesthetic feedback, but keep rocking the technical feedback as well!

glad to see this reached someone who can do something about it.

It may be worth using a deesser, and being careful with the compressor. As compression brings out sibliance. Siliblance is usually between 6-7kHz, so dropping that can usually do the trick.
