WonderCon 2008 in San Francisco not only was host to some great comic creators and events, but it was the gathering place of comic book podcasters. The guys from iFanboy were joined by Around Comics, I Read Comics and Comic Geek Speak on a panel at the con. Here are the highlights.

Thanks very much for posting this, guys. Wish I could have stayed.
Is there a time limit on minis? I could see future con coverage being largely carried in the mini-format. Interview comic guys, select their answers on a specific topic with the idea of further coverage on the Saturday show.

Loved this week's video show. It's great to finally see a comicon panel discussion and not just listen to it. I appreciated being able to put names with faces - especially Lene Taylor; she has such a sexy potty mouth voice.
Any chance you could get permission to video other panel discussions at upcoming comicons, like DC and Marvel?

That's Bryan Deemer of Comic Geek Speak which has gotten so big that it practically hosts mini-conventions once a year when they hit landmark episodes like 200 or 300. There's like seven guys who host, although not all show up. Bryan has now realized a dream of getting into the comic business in a way by producing a comic "news, review, research, whatever" magazine called "Comics Now!" Google it.
Their podcasts can be over an hour, more than once a week, hilarious or boring. It really is like hanging out in a comics clubhouse. They'll interview creators or just gab among themselves. They opened up their forums to all podcasters. This built up a sense of community and a broad fanbase.
The weakness of the show, at least from my point of view, is what was said at the panel. They don't edit. The difference between recording a conversation and producing and editing that conversation is bigger than you'd think. But not editing allows them to put out more than a show a week, really long shows so I guess there's a trade off there. I now only listen to them sporadically when there's a specific topic or guest I'm interested in.
I REALLY appreciate the extra work that goes into editing a podcast - video or not. It really makes a difference to my enjoyment. I appreciate the professionalism. Thank you iFanboys and all you other bleary-eyed, sleep deprived, podcasters out there.

Enjoyed the episode.
One thing about podcasts, there's now so many of them that I wouldn't have the time to keep up with them, read the comics they're talking about and do other stuff like eat and sleep.:)

I agree with Timber-munki, I already watch nearly every show on revision 3 and listen to like 7 video game podcasts, 3 comic podcasts and a Lost podcast. I think the mini podcasts make it a little easier to digest when I am already swamped with so much information. I will try to fit a few more in my schedule but its difficult with so many podcasts as it is.

Hey I was at this and snapped some photos of the back of some guys head instead of Joss. Also my flash didn't work well so its really bright. Panel Photo (http://flickr.com/photos/24166385@N05/2294968903/)
Anyway it was a pretty good panel even if Conor was really hungover
So who was the guy who keep you going for five years and is he still here?

I remember a strong Nick presence in the early iFanboy days.

I had a roommate named Nick, but I don't think that was him.

I think I'm still recovering from the weekend of WonderCon.
