Has anyone heard which projector Kevin purchased? I'm looking to get one and I'm debating if a 1080p model is really necessary since I've seen some 720p models that look great and are fairly cheap. Thx.

Yes. It's the Panasonic PT-AE2000u:

It would be awesome to get a 1080p projector, how does the quality of a projector in HD match up vs say an LCD or Plasma set?

It is better, if you have the right environment for it. You can have 100+ inches out of the right projectors as long as you have a wall/screen of the proper size/color. The amount of light in a room can also change the experiences greatly.

Yes, in a way it can match a plasma, but in my opinion it's never going to beat a plasma, I mean come on. One big advantage obviously of a projector is its versatility in size, and the newer ones do look awesome, but better than plasma? They both have their pros and cons, like you have to change the bulb on the projectors every X hours, and the plasma have that burn-in thing.

Research dude, I reccomend you go to the AVSforums. http://www.avsforum.com/

That's where I went and did a little digging and found that a Sony 1080p LCD bravia was the best choice for me.

As long as you have a good screen and a fairly dark room the quality is on par if not better than regular HD sets.

I wouldn't say it surpasses a plasma or LCD. I have had both and I love my Plasma. Projectors are nice but if your gonna be using it alot, I wouldn't recommend one.
