Yeah, that was amusing....I emptied a few clips into it, it sprays a little but nothing else.

Have fun with your voided achievements ;)
Actually, that one doesn't void any achievements to my knowlege.
Which is why I used it :)
Not like I'm an achievement whore anyway.

So, I love this game. I really do. But why the HELL do they make you get into firefights so much? Its like they think their shooting mechanic is good or something. Niko controls like a freakin' boat, and you can't see where you are aiming, and you lock on to the wrong guys, and you get disoriented and you die....repeatedly, in my case.
I'm got pissed at the old hospital escape mission, and now I can tell I'm gonna get pissed again during the bank robbing with Packie mission. Dang it game, let me get in a car and start a big chase, but don't pretend you are freakin' Halo 3, because you are most definitely not.
There, I feel better now :)

That was when the game crossed from Fun to Frustrating for me (every GTA does that for me...) which is when I start nit-picking on issues I'm having. Still love the games, but I doubt I'll every replay the storyline on any of them. (It really annoys me that, for things like friends, they seem to place them a long way away from where you currently are too. At least they have Cabs now.)
Admittedly, it is the first GTA I've gotten 100% on though...

Remember, headshots are your friend. Once you get locked on to someone, aim towards the head. I actually like the shooting missions much better than driving missions. The driving ones piss me off because I can't destroy them until after they've taken me on a scenic drive through the city, but you don't know that up front so it ends up to be frustrating (plus, no lock-on while driving? Bah!).
@damnedeyez: I wanted to get 100% for that key to the city contest, but I'm disqualified because of where I am, damnit! That's the only thing that'll motivate me enough to go out looking for those pigeons, and now I don't really care.

I'm disqualified too (boo CT)..but, it was the first one I felt I had a chance of reaching. Those blasted birds took forever though, even with the maps.

That was where the game crossed from fun to mind-blowingly brilliant for me, I really loved that mission, it felt like I was in Reservoir Dogs or Heat. Mind you I only just scraped through that one on the slimmest sliver of health...

The concept was great, but it felt like it went too long...I lost count with how many tries I did before I managed to finish it.
I figure it's part me not being all that good at video games and part the way I default to playing . Sometimes it just felt like they were doing some things just to make it difficult when it shouldn't have to be.
I LOVED the bank heist mission, although being able to call Kiki when we got out of the subway helped ;)

Just out curiosity, since I see this complaint everywhere.. what's so wrong with the GTA aiming mechanic? I've had the game for a week and feel like aiming is quite intuitive. The only gripe I can see having is locking-on to the wrong person, but that's easily solved by just pressing left or right.
I don't know. Maybe this is just more of my type of a game, rather than shooters. I feel like I can gun down a group of enemies just as well in GTA IV as I could in COD4.
Anyone care to enlighten me?

I like the aiming. My only problem is it locks on to the wrong person at the worst possible moment. I enter a shooting area and try to lock on to the shooter, but it accidentally locks onto a cop and I'm pretty much shooting like crazy since I'm out in the open, so I kill the cop and now I have the feds to worry about. Of course, it helps that when I complete certain missions, cops are no longer on my trail.
The only mission that pissed me off was when you to have to do the road block and steal that slow-ass van with the prisoner in it. The first time, I failed the mission because I was trying to lose my wanted level for ten minutes, but the damn cops wouldn't let up. Eventually, I slammed into so many cop cars that the van broke down. The second time, I succeeded by going the opposite direction as opposed to my last try, which seems like it's suppose to be the right choice by how quickly the chase ended. It was funny though because in order to reach the destination where I ditch the van, I had to drive pass the crime scene and the roadblock and destroyed cars were still there.

the bank robbery was by far the best moment i've had so far in the game. I passed it on one try and it was very intense and an exteremely satisfying series of events. Now if i had been killed i would certainly feel the same way you did but i didn't think it was terribly difficult. Always stock up on bulletproof vests and health before entering missions as well as full ammo.

Always did.
My biggest problem tends to be that the run and gun style is just one I have troubles doing/grasping/utilizing. I always default to slow, methodical and trying to take out all of the adversaries. I prefer picking people off one by one until no one's left...and this was a mission where that caused problems. By the time I worked my way to the subway exit, it'd be surrounded by cops coming down. Maybe I should've just kept running along the rails...
This is why I hate when games have infinite spawns. It also explains why I hate missions that are timed or pressure you to accomplish something before X happens...and why I hate the extended missions. Nothing like taking 20 minutes only to die and have to redo it...again and again and again.

I don't have too much of a problem with the aiming mechanic, in my opinion, it is the best aiming mechanic in the series.
Absolutely, and now that I've got the hang of the cover system I'm constantly taking cover behind all sorts of things.

Yeah, I like how you don't have to be right up against the wall to get into cover too, lets the battles be a bit more frantic and bad ass.

I didn't have that problem. Do you use the cover system much? It helps so so much in this game. I just love the shooting mechanic they have in this game, it really is the best in this series easily. I've also really grown to love the new way driving and vehicle physics are implemented. Took me a while to get a hang of it all but it is very rewarding once you do. Anyway, 3 leaf clover was my favorite mission in this game hands down... with snowstorm coming in second probably. I was able to kill every noose/cop in the subway easily... don't forget about your grenades, they are very handy.
I think the story, the characters, and the gameplay in this GTA offering far surpass any GTA that came before it. The characters in this game are some of the most fleshed out I've ever seen in a game. They provide a ton of history and background for several of the characters through spoken dialogue throughout the game. The ending was so emotional that I couldn't even pick the controller back up to play again for a while. I'd really like to see what the guys impressions are of the game after finishing it. It had a really great ending I thought.
I'm pretty close to the end now, and I know there are two endings so I've picked out my path from this point on.

Speaking of the two endings the deal ending branch is much more impactful, people that have played that part know what I'm talking about.

played through both...revenge I got through the first try and was my original choice. Deal, I went back to see what it was about and took multiple tries to get the timing down. (There are a couple parts in it that seem to require you climb and drive specific lines to avoid death/failure. I know I'm not the only one with that issue...and maybe there was an issue in revenge that I didn't get, who knows.)
I still prefer the revenge path...and still blame Roman, even if Niko doesn't.

well i mean technically cops wouldn't just magically stop coming, eventually more authorities would come after you. At some point you need to just find out when it's clear and make a run for it, the point of the game is to get away without dying or getting caught, not to kill every cop in liberty city. A lot of missions in gta rely on you simply escaping rather than shooting your way to saftey, cops are don't stop coming in gta and it only takes a little while to come to that conclusion

I agree that this is the best aiming of any GTA, but I still feel that it is pretty crappy at times. It works okay when the bad guys stand still and pop out once in a while. Then you just duck bechind cover, lock on, kill, rinse, repeat. But when things get frantic, and you have bad guys in front and behind it all breaks down. Like I said, Niko controls like a boat so turning him, and then turning the camera, and then locking on, and then locking on the the right guy can get tedius and thats a lot to do before I can get to cover again.

Yeah, Niko's reaction time sucks. I remember I got into a fist fight with one person, then three more came to join the fight and I tried to get a gun out but was beat down before I had a chance to even aim.

Reading your thoughts about Niko's movement made me think of a complaint I've been aggravated by with this game.
I don't like how slowly Niko can equip a gun.. several missions require you to immediately start firing after you get out of a car, but if you didn't have one equipped before you got into the car, you basically stand there getting shot while selected a gun to use.
Just a minor gripe, and one that can be avoided by having a gun ready before you get into a car, but something that could definitely be improved in the next game.

I know what you mean...I always felt like that was more my suckiness, but it does take a long time to cycle to the right gun...and I always seem to miss and have to go back one, haha.

I still prefer the revenge path...and still blame Roman, even if Niko doesn't.
How can you blame Roman for anything?
Every single unfortunate thing that happens to Niko through out the entire game is a direct result of Niko's actions and not Roman's. Roman only introduced you to 3 crooks. Brucie, Jacob, and Vlad... 2 wind up as your friends and the other Niko decides to kill which starts this snowball of revenge to run down hill. And then later Niko just introduces himself to other crooks or is introduced by other employers. Sure Roman owed the russian mob money from gambling but he was really kidnapped so that Dimitri and Bulgarin could use him as bait so that they could get to Niko. That is what was really supposed to be so tragic about either ending, that this innocent person that you should have been attached to was killed because of your dealings with the wrong types of people and your obsession with revenge... or greed.
Also, I don't see how you could get more emotionally attached to a character that you are introduced to much later in the game and have hardly any knowledge of and or history with. You only casually date through out the late game, there just wasn't enough given to really form any kind of feelings about her at all. And only one villain was really well built up. Pegorino was a Mafia wanna be stooge. There was no build up to a final confrontation with him, he just all of a sudden hates you. Where as Dimitri stabbed you in the back long ago and continually messes with you and taunts you through out the game. So to me, the Deal was the real ending to this game and Revenge was just very anti climactic. I definetly agree with MagunWarrior 100%.

I'm curious but don't have the 32 hours to play the game over to find out.
Thanks.
