When watching the segment about upgrading notebooks, I was intrigued with Patrick's comment that MacBooks with 2gb limit could actually support 3gb. I hadn't upgraded my MacBook yet, so it still only had 1gb. I was a little confused about how you could get 3gb because I thought you always needed matched pairs. So I looked into a little bit and found you can stick a 1gb and a 2gb DIMM and you won't suffer any performance issues. I got the sticks this morning from Buy.com, only cost $60 after rebates, slapped them in and it works great. Now the only problem is what to do with the two 512mb I've got left over.

You could sell them on ebay?

You aren't getting much for them, but it's better than having RAM laying around.

Or, maybe you have a parent or a sibling that has a laptop that needs more ram.

I would say ask around your friends and family. I always find someone with an older machine that needs a quick boost. You many not make as much with selling it online but at least you know someone who is having a better computing experience. :)
