ABC has ordered a pilot of a fantasy drama described as Harry Potter meets Pan's Labyrinth.

Captain Cook's Extraordinary Atlas is about a girl who uses a magic atlas to explore a hidden world.

The story is written by novelist/screenwriter Tom Wheeler, who is also currently adapting his book Gold Circle for television.

Anyone know anymore about this?

No.

But I am rather interested to hear more about this though.

Captain Cook's Extraordinary Atlas? It's gonna have to be damn good to get over that title.

I wonder if the person that made this comparison is aware of how horrifically violent Pan's Labyrinth was.

I wasn't aware of that when I saw it in theaters, then the scene with the bottle came. Right then I realized this wasn't what I thought I was going to see.

sounds a little weird....wasn't Pan's Labryinth really just a hallucination that the girl felt as she went into shock from being shot?

i really wanted to like that movie, but i hated it.

side note, the orphanage was great. great director overall

Damn. I really hoped that this thread was about Guillermo del Toro directing the last of the Harry Potter movies.

Now THAT would be awesome.

Even more awesome would be if Eli Roth did it instead.

Just no more Harry penis plz. kthnx

So, I've read all the books, just haven't seen all the flicks.....am I missing something? I wasn't aware of any homoeroticism in HP.

OMG! I was totally thrown off guard when the bottle scene came towards the beginning. I really wanted to like Pan's Lab for all the brilliant images/characters, but the unnecessary violence kinda ruined it for me.

Harry Potter + Pan's Labyrinth = Jim Henson's Labyrinth ?!? scary

I like the title. It invokes a whimsical-adventure feeling.

David Yates is directing it the last three Potter flicks (The final book is 2 movies).

He's referring to Equus.
