After weeks of Internet speculation, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has officially confirmed plans to restructure the region’s PlayStation Store for the middle of April this year.
As a result of these plans, the company has revealed that there will be no new content updates to the European PlayStation Network until the process is complete.
Back catalogue items will not be affected, however, and users will still be able to download existing content, such as the recently released Gran Turismo 5 Prologue.
Speaking in a statement this afternoon, SCEE commented, “The new design will deliver a hugely improved navigation system, much greater scope for categorization and a dynamic new user interface.”

I wonder what this means for the PC store. I don't have a PS3, but download demos and buy games for my PSP all the time from my PC.
It'd be nice if the PC store was revamped too, but from the screens this seems like a distinctly PS3 change.

I actually really like it. It looks fairly simple and clean. Can't be any worse than the current one, and hopefully it won't have the slowness that the current one does.

Doesnt look like only for PS3 since it has a PSP button there :)
I like the look of it though.
I hope they add a function to switch the language, I'm stuck with french since my profile is

I really don't get why they can't put up any new content until this is released on the 17th. When I update my website I make all the changes locally and then upload the new pages, it doesn't affect the online version of my site.
They had better have a killer line-up when they finally do update. They will apparently have the downloadable version of GT5 Prologue, but I don't really care about that game so I hope there will be more than that.
As for improving the speed, they have said that the new store will reside on the PS3 itself (like the XBLM) so it should be much faster than the current version.

FROM THE PLAYSTATION BLOG
This morning, SCEA announced that the PLAYSTATION Store will be revamped with a new look in mid-April. We’ve heard your calls for a more fluid Store interface, and we think you’ll be pleased with the results.
So it looks like this is gonna apply to the US too.

Apparently, from the response to this post (http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008/03/31/new-playstation-store-interface-coming-in-mid-april/comment-page-1/#comment-51878), it is in fact only a PS3 change...

I guess I can live with that, but then again, I guess I have to.
