I would like to know why the guys have not reviewed reaper. It's one of my fave shows and it has recently come back. Tuesdays at 9 on the CW.
it's about a guy who turns 21 and then finds out that his parents have sold his soul to the devil. The Devil is now making him capture escaped souls using different objects each episodes (including a magic bullet, 8-track, rc car, etc). it's funny and kevin smith directed the pilot.
some people have mentioned the show here, but i want to know if there are anymore fans out there. It's no pushing daisies or dexter, but still pretty good.

I found the first couple of episodes on some floating media server on my PS3 and downloaded a couple. I enjoyed the first few episodes a lot. I liked the stupid friend a lot (kinda reminded me of Alex, no offense to Alex) but yeah...cool show...the guy to plays the devil is the guy on Twin Peaks...who played uhh..Leland..Laura Palmer's father. Who I love, so it's cool to see him again in stuff.
I found the show quite enjoyable.

Love it! It's ridiculous, but hilarious, plus it's set in Seattle (WA FTW!). I was so glad when it came back since I've definately soured on a lot of other shows this season, and I was running out of things to watch.

Reaper is great! I totally got into it from the start, and it still hasn't gotten old to me. I'm loving every episode! Really fun show, and I'd encourage everyone to at least give it a try.
I agree it's no Dexter (AMAZING!) but it's damn fun televison, with some pretty clever writing.

When I first saw the show (probably TRS) I thought oh is it like Dead like me. Then I saw that it wasn't and my sadness over the loss of dead like me diverted me from any interest in the show at the time.
I am gonna check it out. Always looking for something new to watch. Thanks!

The past few weeks I've been catching an episode here and there and it's pretty enjoyable. I haven't been following the show but I was surprised to pick up on what I think is a continuing story about what exactly the details of the relationship of Sam and the Ray Wise. It's a pretty fun show that I think has the potential to go beyond it's sort of serialized format, sucks that I hear it's going to be canceled though.

I can see the appeal of the show, but I just can't bring myself to keep up with it as a "Monster-of-the-Week" show.
You know the plot is going to be the same each show:
Personal drama...Devil screws with main character, setting up the episode villain...failed first confrontation...more personal drama (wacky hijinks pairing Sam's social life agains his contract)...longer confrontation sequence...success...another conversation with the Devil.
The show painted itself into a corner very early on: Sam can't break the contract with the Devil, and he can't get the girl because it would mean exposing her to the risks that come with his other job.
I can see why people like the show (as the song "Radar Love" jumps back into my head for no apparent reason)....but it's not something I can stick with. Even with the lack of other programming on right now, I tried watching last night, and was able to turn away for 5-10 minutes and know exactly where they were in the plot.

I'm a fan of the show, but I think its definitely a show that you can't judge too harshly. Sorta like the movies the guys review, its not revolutionary but its fun. If you can watch just for a fun time, Reaper is great for that. If you're dissecting it to look for flaws, you won't enjoy it for very long.
I agree with the sentiment that it needs to break the formula, and I hope that it will if given the chance. They're trying to set a foundation for the series to build on right now and if it doesn't get canceled, I'd hope for more arcing storylines that span a few episodes instead of the monster of the week format.
Good show, anyway. Hope it stays on for a while.

I really like this show although it does have it's flaws. I'm glad they were able to break away from the standard formula of episodes focusing mainly on them catching souls. Now that part isn't always what the episodes are about although they do it in every episode.
All being said i'll be surprised if this show gets a second season. Just seems like one of the shows that have an interesting idea but get dropped anyway.

I love the show. I think the two new demons on the show are great. Very very funny.

I'm definitely enjoying me some Reaper. Not in the upper class of TV shows, but very well made and entertaining.
Much like with Eureka, I'm ok with how formulaic the show is. I can just sit back and enjoy the great amusing characters and situations.

The CW network has given a 13-episode midseason renewal to its comedic hourlong series Reaper, Variety reported. The story centers on a slacker guy (Bret Harrison) who's forced to work for the devil (Ray Wise), thanks to a Faustian bargain made years ago by his parents. The freshman series from ABC Studios has a cadre of loyal fans but has otherwise struggled in the ratings.
The renewal decision went down to the wire, coming hours before the CW's 2008-09 upfront presentation in New York on May 13, the trade paper reported.
Good news for a show that finally seems to be gaining some traction.

I like Reaper a lot. It seems like it could be even better if they get into the fantasy aspect a bit more. Right now the demon fighting is pretty minimal in the show, and it seems to be about dealing with the fact that he is a reaper. Hopefully a second season means they can take the show beyond what they're doing now.

April Fools joke?
Actually the guys did review the pilot episode of Reaper a while back. Don't remember which ep it was.
Actually, it was the ORIGINAL pilot, the one with Carmen Electra, who was replaced with a real actor.
I think Reaper is steadily getting better and better as they add more complexity and character conflict. Of course people are going to compare this show to Buffy, but I've recently watched the first few seasons of Buffy, and it kinda sucks. I really hope that Reaper develops more into drama, with not so much (sometimes bad) comedy.
Why can't he break the contract? What was the terms of the contract that his father burned? Is there some other connection between Sam and the devil that we don't know about?
I really loved that scene where the devil is talking about how god shunned him, even though he loved him. Sam makes the hard decision to betray him, even though he demonstrates some humanity, which we later find out was all a lie anyway.

I don't remember her ever being involved...I know Andi was originally played by a different Actress though. Nikki Reed, according to imdb.

I love the concept.
I love several of the characters.
I watch the show.
Not surprised its about to be cancelled. The whole concept of your soul being sold to the devil by your parents could be fleshed out it far cooler ways than the show has illustrated so far.

Reaper is a great show. I'm glad its been given the opportunity to continue with a 2nd season. I wish they hadn't cancelled Aliens in America though... I thought that show was good and had potential.

A friend of mine just turned me on to Reaper a few weeks ago and I have enjoyed every every episode I've seen. I just appreciated the fact that the Devil is very Devil-ish and the ideas are pretty new. I do think that the show could do with a little bit more subtle hints at the overarching plot, because you can sort of see the end, but the journey is where the fun is anyways.

I watched the first few episodes, and I will watch an episode randomly if it's on and I have nothing else to do. It is only alright. Reminds me of Dead Like Me, only watered down, and not as good.

Finale was tonight, two words: Totally Awesome!
So, for anybody who doesn't like spoilers, STOP READING NOW!!!
Tonight, we learned that Sam is almost certainly the son of the devil, that Steve is in Heaven, and that Sam's "dad" isn't what he appears to be.
When the demon pulled Sam from the cage, I thought he had also pulled his dad out too. I was talking to a gal about it and she bet that he was dead, and I argued it would be the Buffy thing to do, but when it's revealed that he is dead I knew the series had matured. When Sam's dad died, and they did the burning man tribute, it was very touching. Then when they cut to Sam's Mom digging her husband up, and then he says, "What took you so long?" I immediately freaked out. Best season finale yet!
What did yall think of the season finale?

Yeah a coupe of episodes in the middle of the season seemed to slow a bit, but the last coupe of the episodes were even better the the beginning of the season. Totally awesome, and I can't wait for season 2.
