So after hearing Jeff rave about it in almost every ep of TRS, I finally got around to getting my hands on the show. Gotta say, its frighn incredible. I've just finished three seasons and can't wait to start the fourth. Highly recommended for anyone looking for something to watch in the current tv off-season. If you think Jack Bauer is bad ass, get a load of Vic Mackey!

Thanks Jeff!

I'm doing the same thing! I just started season 3. It's hard to imagine this going for 6 seasons- I can't imagine what's coming next. It's definitely one of the better shows out there. I'm not sure yet whether it's all Jeff claims it to be, but I definitely see what he means by disciplined writing.

I think during the progress of seasons 1-5 the show just got better and better each time, season 6 was good, but I think season 5 is probably the best of the show. Since you're starting season 4 get ready for some of the best of The Shield.

Fall 2008 can't come fast enough, I can't wait to see how the show wraps itself up.

I blew through all 5 seasons a year or so ago and absolutely fell in love with this show! INCREDIBLE!

To comment on the much heated The Wire Vs. The Shield debate, my vote goes for The Shield by a long ways, but I think The Wire is really good, as well. Just not as epic as The Shield.

I just started a little while ago. I am slowly getting through it. Just too busy to sit and binge on it. I got to the end of Season one and that was insane. I loved the ending to season one and I can't wait to see what else happens.

I guess I am one of the many that has watched this show on Jeff's (INCESSANT) recomendation now. Any free time I have I try to watch this show now.

As far as it being the best show ever.. sorry. I think for me that will always be Firefly.

I just watched the entire of season one in ONE sitting last weekend. I really enjoyed it (obviously), but I'm not yet sold on the best show ever... already have seasons 2 and 3 ready to watch.

I watched the whole series 5-6 months ago and it's definitely one of my favorites. I just find it's really good at drawing me into the stress and moral weight of the decisions the characters make. I was almost glad when I was through it because sometimes it's a little too successful at conveying that stress. There's one thing that happens... my god. I thought I was going to throw up - in any other show it would of seemed like 'oh, they just picked the craziest thing they could think of and did that', but here, I totally bought it.

i wish everyone had seen it so i could drop a spoiler right now but oh well...

In my case, it wasn't my love for the Totally Rad Show that brought me to The Shield, it was the other way around.

I downloaded an episode after a friend recommended it to me, and when I heard Jeff make a comment about The Shield being the greatest show ever, I knew I'd found a home.

That's awesome, heh.

Me, I found myself agreeing with almost everything Jeff has ever said. Even as recently as the latest episode, and his/my opinion on FAQs... The only thing I can think of that we disagree on is his take on Donnie Darko (unfortunate!) and perhaps Folklore, as I can't recall what he said about it.

So, I decided to try The Shield about a month and a half ago. I liked it right away, but it wasn't until episode 10 of season 1 that I knew that I was really hooked, and not just because of some mental thing making me like it because Jeff liked it...

I watched every episode of every season almost back to back, and I am excited for the next season. :) I love the show, I think it's my favorite show I've seen on TV (can't think of anything better, but I might just be drawing a blank).

I hope he keeps on mentioning it in every episode, because it can turn people onto it and that's a good thing.

So, thanks Jeff!

I just finished watching the first season last night. It was slow to build at first, but it's understandable since they focus on so many characters. By the end I was totally sold! Amazing show! Thanks Jeff!

Does anyone else think all these "thank you Jeff" threads should be combined and stickied? It seems like a new one pops up once every 2-4 weeks... :p

Well, I just dig being able to watch TRS and get suggestions of movies and shows to watch, games to play and for the most part agree with what the crew says. So I guess its mainly a 'Thank you TRS' thread that would make sense. In any case, just to update - I've ordered season 4 and im EAGERLY awaiting it's arrival tomorrow. If anyone's interested, you can pick up The Shield DVD's right now at Best Buy for only about $20. Yea, full screen... but I'd say its worth it. Looks fine on my 47" widescreen.

I know exactly what you're talking about. God damn!

I wasn't going to bother with it at first, mostly because I thought Chiklis was crap in Fantastic Four, but then I remembered that I'd done the exact same thing with Prison Break (with the crap guy from Blade: Trinity). Awesome, awesome, awesome.

Is this show finishing at seven seasons then?

I just started watching the series last month and right now I am in the middle of season 5, and I must say it is amazing. Though it is not the best show on TV like Jeff says, it is amazing and definitely on my top 10 greatest shows list.
