View Full Version : How Would You Improve The Show?

I didn't think I'd like the show when I first heard of it, but I watch a lot of other Revision3 shows on I-tunes so I gave it a chance. I was surprized, but I enjoyed it for the most part. Sara does a fine job, reminds me of when I used to watch her on SS & AOTS.

My biggest complaint would have to be Jessica. I like her on the Digg Reel, but for some reason I just don't like her in a talk show format. She just doesn't seem comfortable, and I don't find her to be at all funny.

Good show overall, don't know if it's something I'll continue to subscribe to....but good work Revision3.

What do you think should be done to improve the show?

IMO, you couldn't improve the show even if they hired the A-Team.

Sure, Jessica's not the sciency type, but I think you need that. You can't have a show made up of all techy-sciency types. You need a yin to the yang. Plus, the Digg-Reel is all scripted. How she was on there was basically the same as a talking head on any other TV show. What you're getting here is the real Jessica.

I love every segment on the show, even if it's something I can't use. The segments don't drag, they're not loaded with scripted humor, there's a great feel of spontaneity and fun.

I hope they don't change a thing.

Can't improve on perfection.

1. Who is this "Sara" of which you speak?

Lay off Jessica. She's awesome. She was, after all, Sarah's predecessor on TSS.

I agree with the first earlier post. Every show Jessica seems to be on I really dont enjoy. She tries to hard to be funny, and just isn't. She also seems very fake in her knowledge and love of tech. (ie. she doesn't really know anything)

I could do without all the nicknames for every segment also.

+1 (just in a not as harsh way).

Remember, folks...tastes are different.

So, what's funny to you may not be funny for other people. It doesn't mean that the person isn't funny.

I personally feel that when Jessica's being herself, she's funny! Watch the bloopers at the end of the shows.

But, if your sense of humor is different, you may not find it funny.

Some people think Jim Carey movies are funny (like me), and some people think they're not. That doesn't mean that Jim's not funny, it just means you have different taste.

I do have to agree that the names of the segments are a bit odd, but not in a quirky, memorable sort of way...I honestly find myself forgetting which segment is which in terms of their names. Other than that, great show so far. I showed my bro Jessica's punk rock t-shirt segment and he started digging up a ton of old shirts and bleaching logos on them...thus far I've seen his company logo (Puzzled Skateboarding), the Black Flag logo, and a couple others. :D

@ Tux:
Yeah, I also started digging up old t-shirts to bleach. Pretty awesome!
I'm also a frequent instructables visiter... how could I have missed such an awesome tip!

I like Jessica here. Digg reel + Jessica = fail. Harsh but true.

She's was more of an eye candy there. (I have a thing for red heads :( )

___________

How to improve the show:

Indie music. I know you have Xler8or (?), but nothing the type of music Sarah listens to. I visisted her Muxtape page and I was WOWED! My ears came...

(Swedes aren't into indie, but I am)

Oh, how can I disagree with you more........

I take it you never saw the wonderful InDigital with Wil Wheaton, Jessica and Hahn Choi? It was my second favorite show on Revision3 and is still available in the archives.

She clearly shows real knowledge of and love for tech.

I think the show is great. Only thing is that whenever Sarah says "The Gist" it reminds me too much of "The Feed". Personally I dont think they need those mini-intros for each segment.

"She tries to hard to be funny, and just isn't."

I don't know if that's true, but I actually felt the same at times. I'm not trying to be mean, I've actually liked Jessica on other shows. Maybe the fact that The Digg Reel was scripted is why I liked her in it? I don't know, but it just seems like there's no chemistry on screen when she interacts with people.

Maybe it's just my taste as also mentioned by someone.

Anyways, this thread isn't meant to be a bash Jessica thread. So if you've got other opinions about the show keep sharing.

Someone never watched her on Tech TV or on Rev3 when Indigital was around.

Thought I would chime in on this one. Thus far most comments seem to have been somewhat subjective, so let me get those out of the way first.

1. Sarah - Great personality for the show. Actually think she breathes quite a bit of cheeriness into the show. All the while maintaining some what of a satirical presence. Quite an accomplishment actually. Always liked her in whatever I have seen her in...

2. Jessica - Very awesome... adds an eccentric color to the show that without, would probably have me a bit bored (or maybe just skipping to the on the prowl bits)

3. Dr. Kiki - love Dr. Kiki.

4. Heather - Perfect for the part really.

ok now a few non (well sort of ) non-subjective thoughts

As a guy, can't say spots about how to make compact excite me. Not speaking for all guys here, or anyone really. Just saying, keep the diy spots varied.

Dr. Kiki sometimes your hand and head motions can be distracting. Going on 12 years of science education post high school and so maybe I have just equated science information with less animation... Just know I am sometimes going "ok stop moving your hands so much". Not meant to be hurtful, purely constructive.

You all should do a group outing from time to time... get everyones perspective on the same thing, i think that would be very interesting.

some of the stuff after the credits should find its way into the show. Really, i am to the point I can't wait till after credit bits.

Great show though. I wasn't sure I was going to like it, no offense but I thought it might be a bit "girly" for me... I was mistaken. Very entertaining and quite useful. Not to rank the shows on rev3 but popsiren is right up there with diggnation, trs, system and tekzilla. So far I look forward to it every week.

I really like the show, so I am only offering this because you asked. I would make the show more kinetic. Standing is better than sitting. The two across the desk dynamic is too static.
