I highly recommend Dead Head Fred.

Fred Neuman, private eye and protagonist of the game, finds himself one day without his head after being resurrected after a strange scientific experiment. Left without his memory and searching for revenge, Fred begins tracking down suspects whilst dealing out brutal justice and attempts to solve the mystery of the town's seamy degradation.
The game is set in a new genre, called Twisted Noir; a mishmash of horror, gangster and detective motives (film noir) and pulp magazine heroes.
It actually won the first Video Game Writing Award from the Writers Guild of America.

Personally, I bought the PSP primarily as a media player - its gorgeous 4.3 inch screen, with fantastic battery life.... makes it a entertainment unit on long travels.
I don't know if it's out in the US - but there's a GPS accessory add on that hooks up to the PSP via its USB port, and with some free mapping software it can be converted into a nifty GPS device!
