What up all of you at revision3. First I want to say thank you for feeding the geek in side of me. Any way I have some questions about PC and networks repair and web development as a business. I have been a freelance PC ,home network Tech and web developer for my friends family and some clients of mine. For a long time I want to make my freelance it into a real business.

So I got some of my certifications like A+ Network + and I am working on MCSE. I know CSS XML, HTML, PHP Flash, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and other software and web programing I am learning how to use Drupal and other CMS platforms What other things I can learn or what certification I can get to be more marketable to the real world.

Second question is any recommendations of a ultimate tool kit to help repair or install PCs and network related equipment under $200

Thanks

Christopher Williams :)

Hiya! We're bascially in the same boat. I also have those certifications, and the regular A+ Basic.

I'm thinking of starting a "media shop". Creating custom logos/layouts and music jingles for companies in need of it.

I'm going to subscribe to this thread. Maybe someone here is willing to give tips on how to advertise the best way and how to attract new companies.

Sorry for the off-topic. I just didn't think a new thread was necessary.

I think getting the knowledge is easy. But to advertise and market yourself these days is a tough one.

Bump!

Well I am in the same boat.

For advertising, Google has some good business tools. What you should do, is figure out what your target audience is. Then find a medium to target them. Por Ejemplo :

Common target : 14 - 35
Medium : Network sites, myspace, facebook, hi5 and others...

You have a clients you say? Well use word of mouth, or have them distribute business cards for you. A nice method is to stick posters/ flyers in malls, highschool notice boards, community nitceboards, groceries and such....

A sure way to get customers is to guarantee something, like a warranty on work done/ hardware. A money-back guarantee. Some gift or some discount. People today are looking for that. Since you are online, offer online support.

Buy a separate phone, one of those prepaid, never put money on it, let customers call you!

Invest in good principles. Treat your customers with understanding and care. Be fair with them and learn through whatever experiences they throw at you.
