Ouch! They want $32 for a copy here (http://www.alibris.com/booksearch.detail?S=R&bid=9189723976&cm_mmc=shopcompare-_-base-_-aisbn-_-na) That seems... Unreasonable to me. You could send in a scam and if he uses it, he'll give a free copy.

I'll hook you guys up, gratis. If you don't mind paypalling me $4 bucks to cover shipping and such, I'll mail a copy out to you, along with some extra promo goodies.

just write me at brian@revision3.com with the subject "gimme a book" if you're interested.

No wonder I didn't get one. Although I did get one of those energy drink hats, so I was happy enough.

I can see it now...

"Today on Scam School we show you an elaborate scam that involves getting a show on Revision3 about scamming people, getting a book published on scamming people, and being savvy enough to use a forum. We're showing you how to make tens of dollars by promising people a free copy of said book if they paypal you $4 shipping. It's risky, but could net you upwards of $16 dollars, just like me."

Sorry, I refuse to send money to this guy.

You should release it as a free pdf Brian. That way people all over the world can own a copy. :) Unless you actually do sell it. Not sure. I know you're fire book is for sale, not sure if this one is also for sale or used a promotional item.

It's a cool book. I really am enjoying it. :)

Man, that's a really interesting proposition. I do sell a few copies here and there (occasionally at shows, etc), but I hadn't really written the book intending it for mass distribution... I think it's a great book, but I pretty much wrote it in a week and always figured I'd get around to writing the "real" book later. But I worry that giving it away as a .pdf would diminish it's value to folks who have paid for it...

what do you guys think?

Release it in pdf format in exchange for a small amount or donation, perhaps? Paypal would make it easy, I'd certainly buy a copy. I'd also but a copy of the actual book if it were sold in Australia (or if I lived in the U.S.), regardless if it were available as a free pdf or not. :)

My thought, there will always need to be a "mark" to use the trick on. Too many people knowing the trick means less marks. If you want the book, send Brian something in return.

That's a good point.

I guess doing what Brian is doing now/did (giving it away to the fans on the forums) is cool. :)

While a free pdf would be awesome for people, you are right that if everyone knows the tricks then it pretty much takes away the surprise part of the show.

I say release it as a PDF. If you are worried about diminishing the value of the book then you should release just the first chapter as a PDF, with the rest available for a small amount.

Can't really complain when it's free. :)

And it's good to know you're busy. A great magician such as yourself deserves all the work in the world!!

Did you/are you going to try out for this year's America's Got Talent?

Did you/are you going to try out for this year's America's Got Talent?

Didn't you try out once before?

Before the show first aired they asked me to try out. I sent them a video of the full show, but they thought all my good stuff was "too edgy," and just wanted me to do the brick-break-over-the-head routine (which is far from my favorite routine... there's not a lot of creativity in it).

It seemed like they were just looking for filler acts to get eliminated early, so I never pursued it.

Now I'm going through the same thing with the new gong show on comedy central. If they want me to do something like the "nail in the eye" gag, I'll do it, but if they're looking for a chump, I might find myself too busy to help them. :-)

nextgenxbox
05-29-2008, 07:28 PM
Oh, that sucks. I guess they were scared that you would win... which you probably could if they let you do all the crazy stuff. :)

I think Comedy Central would be more edgy and let you do "the good stuff" ... sure hope that works out.

Let us know and we'll make sure to tune in.

"I KNOW THAT GUY! And by know I mean I watch his show online!!!" is what I'll say when I see you on TV.

I saw someone post that BB wouldn't send it in PDF incase of piracy, but do you realize that this book is already online and easy to get? I still would pay him for it to support him. He's the best at EVERYTHING give him some support and pay a little. The FireEating Guide is online too, yet I still bought it.

Maybe this was a bad place to post that, but maybe Brian, you can get rid of it. I don't got an exact site but google search does wonders haha. Hmm, maybe I should be stealing all the stuff, I don't want you to get "too big" cause then you wont respond to us fans of you like you do now. thats the way i think about it - the fast and loose - definitely will be used in school - my teachers gamble with us - friends - anyone really - our school is far from others - ppl that transfer say how easy we have it cuz nobody really works we sit around and talk all day - most teachers will be there n just talk instead of work - that game will give me something to do - and win some free stuff [=
