Alright who is your favorite Super-Hero from DC, Marvel, or Both and Why?
From DC my all time favorite would be Superman. I have always liked him I don't really know why I guess i just always connected with him and saw myself as the small town farm boy who has the possibility to do great things

And from Marvel I guess it would be Wolverine Just always thought he was cool

Used to be Batman, but I honestly don't really have one. Basically it's always just who I think is best written at the time. Right now it'd be a toss up between Daredevil and Captain Bucky. Maybe Invincible.

Jamie Madrox is top billing right now but here is something I posted on this thread (http://revision3.com/forum/showthread.php?p=324299#post324299)about the subject.

My favorite hero’s have been Ray, Egon, and Peter from the Ghostbusters but the list underneath them is filled with comic book character and one Luke Skywalker. The biggest four comic book hero’s for me would have to be Spiderman, Green Arrow, Cyclops and Thor with Dr. Strange starting to edge into the fifth spot. I like these characters for different reasons.

Spiderman is great. With great power comes great responsibility is the greatest theme ever to be placed in a comic. The attraction for me to this character is his ability to not let all the negative things in his life get him down to the point where he quits. He gets up every day knowing that something wrong will happen and he will have to be there. He knows that no matter how many people he saves there will be other people looking down upon him. The deaths of his uncle and Gwen Stacy are what make Spiderman and not the costume. That’s a fantastic concept.

Green Arrow is a recent addition to the top of my list. I think a lot of the draw to this character comes from my love of Robin Hood. A lot of people think that Oliver Queen is very much like Bruce Wayne but they are wrong. Granted both are examples of what human discipline can achieve. They are also men who saw social injustice in societies and felt that they had to do something about it. The difference though is what makes Green Arrow a bigger draw for men then Batman. Batman is more of a detective where Green Arrow is just out evening things up. Green Arrow does have his rouge gallery but they don’t define him as other characters rouge galleries do. Green Arrow is defined by the company that he keeps and what he does when he’s not stalking the roof tops. Oliver will actually get involved with something because he thinks the root of the criminal element comes from social neglect. He is the ultimate liberal, not only does he say that there is social inequality but he shows that there isn’t.

Cyclops is a leader and that’s what makes him so interesting to me. I’ve always saw myself as a leader myself and in comics I don’t think there is a single character who is defined by leadership more then Scott Summers.

The last character that I love is Thor, I don’t really know what it is that I love about Thor. Maybe because he is the embodiment of Dues Ex Macina in the Marvel world. I also like how his story is steeped in Norse Lore which is one of my favorite types of lore. Thor just has this stoic presents about him, much like Superman but the Marvel citizens don’t worship him like the DCU does Supes. I think another thing that I like about Thor is that the idea that gods walk among us. Its just a idea that I love.
Now as for Dr. Strange, what I love about him is he much like Spiderman. Strange is trying to redeem himself in his own eyes however the guy is still a total dick about it. Where Spiderman is filled with self doubt, Strange is filled with confidence and cocky-ness. It had been that way since Stan Lee first wrote him. I love how a man who has so much power in the Marvel Universe is nothing more then just a background character who is used sparsely. I also love how Strange has saved the world countless times but no one even knows he did it. Even though Strange is cocky and confident he doesn’t feel a need to stroke his ego. He does what needs to be done and doesn’t bat a eyelash at doing so. He does it with out personal gain.

This is pretty much how things go for me now. But i always have a soft spot for Batman in the DCU, Daredevil in the Marvel U and my favorite sidekick is Roy Harper/Speedy/Arsenal/Red Arrow

Actually, now that I REALLY think about it, it would probably be John Constantine. Just his inherent persona is enough to make the character one of my favorites, if not my favorite of all time, but the consistently quality handling on the part of all the writers that have taken on the character almost always makes him enjoyable to read. And Diggle right now has a great take on the character.

So, yeah, definitely Constantine. Right now and probably all time.

Batman has been my love since childhood.

But in a less obvious answer my runner up is The Atom. I love that he's a scientist and uses that angle to solve issues instead of brute force. I love his true blue love his wife through thick and thin sweetness. I love love love his crazy as a bat wife: Jean Loring (even pre-Identity Crisis). He's one of the few few few heroes who's Silver Age stories I can not only stomach, but actually truly enjoy. (No camp value just doesn't redeem it for me. As a whole that period of time is just unreadable to me.)

Hulk always has been. Always will be.

I have a brother in Luthor! Who knew. What was your honest opinion of World War Hulk? I was really eagerly anticipating it, to see the Hulk go back to being the mega-scale threat that he used to be when he'd take on the whole Avengers and whip 'em. That said, I felt like it (WWH) shat the bed. No lasting repercussions, and they copped out on the biggest beating he gave anyone (Black Bolt). At least he got to stomp Iron Man's guts out, and that loser the Sentry.

Because of the fact that the only Hulk out there now (Red) blows, it's a little hard for me to call the Hulk my favorite right now. So as far as Marvel heroes go, I think that Captain America has to take the cake right now. DC-wise I gotta go with Green Lantern.

Ah, so Jon you're saying your favorite character changes depending on the story or how he's developed? Interesting...
See for me, even the crappiest writer could come on Daredevil and while i might not read, he'd still remain my favorite character

I'd say my favorites from Marvel/DC/Independent are Daredevil, Batman, and Miracleman, although I tend to follow creators more than characters. I can pretty much get into any character as long as he or she's well written AND has some sort of likeability to them.

Well, I guess it's hard to describe it. I love the Incredible Hulk, but I feel like he's an interesting character in that if he's mishandled his stories are almost unbearable to read. So I suppose the Hulk is still my favorite character, but it's hard for me to be that into him right now because I don't think Loeb has the barest clue of how to write a Hulk story. That said, Peter David's Hulk, or Greg Pak's, or even Paul Jenkin's stuff... that Hulk is my absolute favorite character.

I much prefer Kyle Raynor. The concept of an artist using the ring was fantastic. And when i started reading GL, he was the guy who had the job. I came to really enjoy the Kyle character, so much so that when Hal Jordan came back, I stopped reading Green lantern.

I'm not sure how old you are, but I'm 26 so most of my early comic reading was done starting in the early 90s... about the same time Kyle came on the scene. So for me, he will always be GL. I enjoy the title currently but Kyle will always be my favorite.

It seems like a lot of people on the "bring Hal back" bandwagon were older and that's why they prefer him.

Yeah, I agree. That being said, the book right now is WAY better than it was towards the end of Kyle's run... and it made me appreciate Hal.

I think Johns did a smart thing by giving all the fans what they wanted by making Hal, Kyle, Guy & John all Lanterns. I just hope that Kyle/John/Guy stay prominent.

I like Hal alot. I just love my man Rayner. He's one of the few GL that isn't great because he's a bad ass with a ring. He's an artist that's given the ultimate tool of creation.

I know I'm not the only "artist" that would want something like that ring. Screw canvas, screw a Wacom, I'm going to go make a giant green statue out front.

I second. I am more of a fan of Kyle than I am Hal. I will go even further and say Hal is more interesting to me evil than he is good. Mostly, because I was impressed DC would do something like that to one of their greats and make it stick for as long as it did. Superman came back from the dead a year or so later. Batman's broken back healed even quicker than that. Hal was evil or irredeemable for like ten years.
