View Full Version : Do you still listen to the radio?
People say that with MP3 players local radios stations are obsolete. Do you still listen to the radio?
I listen to local talk radio (A show comedy show called the Men's room) and local sports events other then that I don't really listen to the radio. What about you?

Not if I can help it. Hell, I didn't listen to it much before mp3s...except maybe as background music when working. (swapping tapes in a machine shop didn't seem like a good idea.)
NO ! and it drives me nuts when i go to an office or business that has it on unless it is very low
i have issues with noise

If it's not just music playing I won't listen to it. Talk radio is annoying as hell. Commericals and the DJs are also annoying. Why I most of the time I listen to my cds or mp3s.

I heard about them on my fave survivor tv show podcast. I think they got banned from itunes, which is where I get my podcasts, so gotta go a roundabout way to get it on my ipod.

NPR baby, everyday...Yep.
When I lived in LA, NPR was two of my options, but where I am now ...
I'm not black enough for the hip hop crap on one station,
don't go to church so that knocks out another two,
don't drive a pickup with a gun rack so there goes the C&W station,
can't stand AM so thankfully that ignore the lunatic fringe,
am not into sports talk,
I'm not a soccer mom doing the whole "easy listening" thing,
and I don't need my opinions spoon fed to me by conservative "commentators".
That leaves me with 2 local NPR stations - a talk station, and a classical one both run by local universities.
So, if I am not listening to NPR (or the BBC via NPR), I listen to my iPod (music I ripped from CDs I own, or podcasts) via my Alpine HU in the car, or listen to one of the CDs I normally keep stashed int he center console. Wife offered to buy me a Satellite Radio subscription for Xmas last year, but after looking over the station selecions, I just didn't see the value in it for me.
