so i was hanging out at home...wife is gone at school so i figured i could rock out. im jammin' away on my electric drums (with headphones) and i keep hearing the dog go crazy...so im like hmm maybe the neighbor under me (in apartment) is finally complaining about this (had them a few months now) nope. its the police!

so of course hes at my door for a noise complaint. asked my name/birthdate. said he got a call about me playing drums. i said well i have headphones so i didnt think anyone could hear me (ive always been nervous about the kick drum making a thump through the floor or something though) and he says with a dumbfounded look....what? headphones? you dont have real drums? i said no...they are electric. so he proceeds to tell me the neighbor says she has told the office about me twice already (i was never talked to either time) and he doesnt want to come back or it will be a citation. woo!

so im feeling terrrible...and pissed cause i would have solved this problem had the office talked with me.

i go downstairs to meet my relatively new neighbor...and i say im sorry..and tell her no one from the office ever said anything to me or i wouldnt have been doing it still. shes very nice she said she didnt want to upset me by calling the cops (her cute daughter is standing there..and im like damn i bet ive woke this kid up before or some crap) i ask when she gets home so i know when to be done...she says 6:30...and we are good.

fun times! but damn i felt horrible! i never want to piss people off. of course not some single mom with a cute 4-5 year old daughter! now i have to go yell at my office for not yelling at me!

The vibrations from the drum-heads probably get transmitted right though the floor turning her entire apartment into your drum set.

People can be so passive/aggressive. My wife and I used to have downstairs neighbors that called up and complained about noise. The only thing is, they used to make shit up and say we made noise late at night when we were actually sleeping. Finally, the office told them to call the cops, but making a false complaint to the office and a false complaint to the cops are two different things.

We vowed never to live in an apartment above someone else again.

Well you can feel ok now! Your resolved the issue with the one whom you distressed most. As for the office, grab a shotgun, load it up, walk in there and...............go GTA on them!

yeah im sure the vibrations of the drum pads probably adds a tiny bit...but im sure most of what she heard is the kick drum pad..cause its the loudest part and has a pretty big thump.

my wife and i are so ready to get our first house. apartments just suck...even though we live in a very nice one. its just not a fun way to live. no backyard for the dog, cant play drums (i want a real kit!!!), have to keep telling my nieces and nephews to settle down and stop jumping when they are over and playing. the list goes on and on.

the house will come in the beginning of 09...and i cant wait!

I could not live in an apartment. I would hate to have to be quiet. When i stay in hotels (7-10 days a month) I hate wen people above are noisy. When I am in a hotel i don't try to be quiet but I really have nothing there to make noise but a tv and laptop.

To top the all time list is when next to you you have a couple having sex and you can hear it all... and not hearing other people having sex is not a turn on for me.

I know you're trying to make a joke but you often like to crack about killing people.
================================================== =======

As for Kevin one thing I have come to realize living in a basement apt and the old house I grew up in is that small noises that you don't notice somehow are very amplified so taps can sound like thuds and footsteps can sound like crashes at times to people living below.

I wouldn't worry about it, theres nothing you can do about it now. I do think your neighbor went about it the wrong way though. She should have knocked on your door and asked you to keep it down. Unless of course you gave her the impression that your weren't approachable which I doubt.

That explains why I have the urge to eat mushrooms and jump on top of turtles.

Your neighbor really should have talked to you first or to the main office. That was bitchy of her to just call the police.

my first apartment on my own i lived on the top floor of a deluxe tower with heavy security and doormen

so i was surprised to get an unannounced knock on my door

'who is there'

'the FBI'

(i am flipping through my mind thinking 'what could i have done that would involve the FBI ?' :D)

turns out that my first car a silver corvette that i had traded in on a new one was found in a lake painted yellow so it had something to do with that

he never explained just asked me a few questions

but i will never forget that moment

'the FBI'

wtf

At least they knocked, the first sign you should be ok.
