This clever trick uses a pint of beer and two willing thumbs to handcuff your friend (or enemy) to the bar, while you take his keys, wallet, girlfriend and more.

Aw, another one from the book? I'm eagerly awaiting the "good" ones (aka the ones you haven't already taught me) like the Jack-o-lantern and blockhead. And I'm going to try to find that book you mentioned in the itricks interview.

Edit: Not knocking the episode as a whole, though. It's always nice to see some dillhole get glued to the bar. I'll definitely be using this in a few weeks at my alumni weekend. Some of the old fraternity brothers can be a bit obnoxious after a few pints...
Reedit: Just listened to the itricks interview again to try to get the name of that book... and it wasn't in there! Must have been in the Magic Newswire one...

Is this show going to stay at about the 5 minute mark once a week?

I envy and pity you. I want to buy the book, but I enjoy learning this stuff on Rev3 for the first time. But that book must be amazing if it's got all this stuff and more.

Doesn't have the human chimney, but it does have all the other tricks we've seen since (in fact, I noticed the description of this vid just quoted the book, thus the "as pictured"). They're better described in the videos, of course, but I'm thirsty for something new, preferably something that will blow peoples' minds.

This is way too short for a weekly show. Awesome trick, but I would expect something so short and to the point in a daily.

Yeah it's a bit short for a weekly.... which is why I said this should be a daily... or atleast three times a week on M,W,F :)

Funny trick though. Haha.

I agree, being that short and weekly makes it seem like I'm not getting enough and really lowers the anticipation the next episode.

Nonetheless, the new trick was pretty awesome but couldn't the guy just bend down and grab the glass with his teeth?

Yeah, try to remember that 99.9% of viewers don't have the book... :)

...but hang in there! I think you'll be pretty happy with the next episode (currently being edited). I haven't seen that scam done anywhere yet.

I'm thrilled you guys are still digging the episodes. I've got plenty of material, so if you'd like to see more frequent releases, I'd send a thoughtful and polite note to the folks involved with the show (there's a convenient list of them in the credits of each episode. Let them know what you like (http://revision3.com/people/), and what you'd like to get from the show. If there's one thing I've found about the rev3 crew, it's that they're thoughtful and really do listen to what the fans want.

That's what I was thinking...but it was amusing, and I'm sure someone who'd been drinking may take awhile to think of that (and there's also some time as they get the 'wtf' shock out of their head first.)

Of course, if they're drunk enough, they may just spill it.

Exactly. You're mostly likely going to use this on some one who has already had a few. They will almost definitely spill it all over themselves, which could end up being just as funny as them being stuck there.

Hahaha I like this trick. You can get out of it though, but you pretty much have to be sober. Just move your thumbs sideways along the table really fast and smoothly, the drink should drop with minimal spillage, especially if it's a short glass. I haven't tried it with a pint yet, too hard to place on the thumbs without someone helping me.

The basic principle of the trick is great, but it does have a large flaw. If you get a pint of my favorite beer (PBR) and put it on top of my thumbs I am just going to lower my head towards the table so that I can lift the beer and chug it at the same time. However; if you were to buy a drink that the person doesn't like (I recommend Bacardi 151) then they have the choice of drinking something horrible and probably throw-up, spill the drink all over themselves and have people laugh at them or wait until someone(else) frees them. To help you save cost of buying liquor that you are not going to drink, just order a rocks class packed with ice and a shot of liquor should fill it up all the way.

Let's Keep the Great Scams Coming!!!

I've gotta ask: was that spontaneous, or were you looking for a belligerent drunk to demonstrate this?

That guy was a great find: we explained what we were looking for, and the guy just ran with it. As soon as it was over, he was all "how was that? Good?"

I give him a big "thumbs up." (on the bar)

I got a friend with this last night. When she finally realized she was stuck, she begged for us to release her. We were laughing too hard. After we recovered, I held off on her release long enough to take this iPhone photo:

I think I'm going to start a collection of photos of victims. It's not like they can stop me. :)

Yes. By which point you would have already left the bar.

Couldn't one just bend down and bite the edge of the glass and pick it up that way and get free.

A full pint glass is too heavy for you to hold onto with your mouth...at least for most normal people. A bottle is a lot easier, so it's best to only pull this trick on someone with a glass.

My friend in the photo had a straw (she was drinking water) so she could have drank it through that, but it would have taken a while.

What you CAN do (but most people don't think about right away) is that you can use your mouth to stabilize the glass while you slowly take your thumbs out from under it. However, it still gives you time to get away since most people will just sit there in disbelief for a few moments before they start thinking of ways to get out of it. They'll probably try to get their fingers out from under the table first.

I mean, these aren't handcuffs and it's not permanently sticking someone to the bar...but it's still a riot!

This one is fun and easy to remember. I like the angle Brian set this up as because I'm sure once you start showing a few people a trick or two there is going to be someone wants to be entertained and doesn't mind turning you into the dancing monkey.

I agree with patrickd on the pint being too heavy or becoming slippery because that is what happens with wet glass. Also getting that picture of your friend caught is priceless! I would hope the mark wouldn't just waste a glass of their favorite brew. The way the whole thing is setup its like you don't really see it coming, so it will take a minute or two to resolve it, factor in a few drinks the organ grinder may have had, and as Brian said you will be out of the bar by then. I like it!

It reminds me of a simple trick I made up on the spot to get a girl laughing and get what I wanted out of her! *insert sinister laugh here* lol

I have to admit I pulled out the trick on a student of mine that was getting on everybody's nerves... I used his freshly filled up Nalgene water bottle instead of a beer... The class laughed so hard as he tried to put the bottle away and get himself free...!

It's totally ethical to league up an entire class against one of their peers, isn't it? ... oops...!
