I was wondering while watching the latest episode, why is The Digg Reel bleeped? Diggnation isn't...

Go to the iTunes store. Look for Tekzilla.
Now, look at the reviews. People got offended when Patrick said "fuck it" in the first episode.

People are stuck up and over paranoid. Look at BBC (UK). I bet they even say COCK in childrens shows. Heck, they even say it during morning shows.

"That Twat Jamie Oliver isn't the only one that can cook with fucking kids". I think the BBC will shorten the title, but I hope they don't.

I've been wondering why they bleep things also. One of the reasons to watch internet shows is that they are less restricted than TV.
If you want to run a "clean" show that's fine, just don't use words you don't want to go on air. Bleeping is ridiculous whether done on TV or the internet.

I've heard many a Rev3 host swear and it not be censored. hell, Neha said fuck on this week's episode of popSiren.

Maybe Revision3 will released an "uncensored DVD Edition" some time down the road. :p

I think Digg Reel uses the beep to make it funnier.... it's funny when you hear a bunch of beeps in a sentence.

Bleeps only work as comedy for a few shows. I know Early episodes of South Park were more funny with bleeps. And in the Cartoon Network show "Metalocalypse" they bleep every swear with guitars, which is both fitting and in the show, hilarious. That being said, I don't think it works for the Digg Reel.

Maybe they just don't want the explicit tag on the Digg Reel? I could see it becoming more of a show to bring people in to Rev3 in the future, as opposed to now where it is mostly fans of other Rev3 shows that watch t.

Perhaps. Is there a limit to # of swear words one can use before the explicit tag must be used? If I remember correctly in a couple eps some words were beeped while a few weren't.

Hmm, that seems pretty reasonable. I've noticed the same thing and come to think of it, can't think of any other reason they would bleep some and leave others.

While I'm with everyone on the bleeping being somewhat ridiculous, what would really be nice would just be some overall consistency.

Andrew gets bleeped all the time, I'm used to that by now. However, if you're going to bleep the host, then you need to do the same to the videos. In this week's ep, the "buddy's girlfriend" video was completely uncensored. A few weeks ago, though, they bleeped every swear word in the "celebrities favorite curse words" vid...which really ruined the entire point of watching the video to begin with.

Personally I think they should just let everything go without being censored. It hasn't hurt any of their other shows. Several people complained when Patrick said "fuck it" on the first ep of Tekzilla, but I think that's just because it seemed almost forced. It had the appearance of "look at me! I'm on the Internet and can finally say whatever I want! fuckfuckfuck!!". Other shows that have the hosts using their normal every day language are doing just fine. Diggnation, Internet Superstar and Webdrifter seem to work quite well.

Either way, whether they decide to bleep the show or not, please just make it uniform. Can we please get someone to make a decision and stick to it?

I don't think all the shows need to uncensored. I mean it has to remain natural. In Diggnation, they're already got an explicit rating because of the drinking (i guess), so it's not like they can sink any lower in people perception. I mean that people who already are interested in Diggnation will still love it wheter they curse or not.

Tekzilla is an entire different thing. It's a tech show, and they're not drunk on set (popSiren on the other hand), just like for the movie ratings there is a number of times you can use a curse word before people get sick with it. It has to really come from the bottom of the heart to relay the emotion, not just because you can insert them between every two words.

Haha yeah. A censored Alex and Kevin would make me not watch. What makes the show so great is that they say whatever is on their minds.

If the editors are bleeping every other episode to avoid an Explicit rating, they are doin' it wrong. I think Andrew is doing a great job as a host... now stop censoring him. kthx.

Could we get an official answer on why some shows are censored and some are not?
