From TV Week (http://www.tvweek.com/talking-tv/dealmakers/2008/04/kirsten_dr_kiki_sanford_host_a.php) (emphases mine)

Ms. Sanford has invested about $20,000 of her own money in travel, expenses and media equipment to promote her own work and develop her shows. For her podcast, she is contracted with the Wizard Network, which sells ads on the show. She’s paid by ON Networks and Revision3 for her work on their shows. Ms. Sanford said she is scraping by at the moment, but has given herself two years to break even as a science expert in new media and on-air. She’s one year into her project so far. “The fact that I am already becoming a little better known is helping, and people are now reaching out to me,” she said. She was contacted recently by Discovery’s Science Channel about possible work. She hopes to use potential on-air work to drive her new-media audience. “I won’t give up one for the other, and I am hoping they will both benefit each other,” she said.

...

The biggest challenge is making a living. “I am getting to the point where I am starting to make a living,” she said. “Sometimes it’s hard to keep in perspective because of the challenge of maintaining everything on a day-to-day basis.”

There you go folks. Dr. Kiki is already half-way into her 2 year plan. If we'd like to see her stay, make sure to get the word out.

I suggest a marketing push along the lines of "Jeff Goldblum is watching you."

All we need is one of these pics in every bathroom stall in America. :)

Or, you know, something less creepy might work too.

In Australia, the weird science go to guy is Dr Karl Kruszelnicki (http://www.abc.net.au/profiles/content/s2193276.htm?site=science/k2).
Kiki should give him a call for some pointers.

Hopefully The Skeptologists gets picked up, that should definitely help her cause. For those who haven't seen it yet, here's the promo.

If you want to see the show make it to tv, send in an email and let them know you like it. It will help them sell the show.

Well, having just finished a 7-episode marathon of PopSirens, which I just learned about yesterday, I was going to come here and suggest that Dr. Sanford would do well with a show of her very own, but apparently a few media people already figured out as much.

I'm glad to see it. I would certainly enjoy watching much more of her interesting and educational, yet clear-and-simple explanations of how things work. I'd heard the "8 glasses of water per day" story most of my life, and recently revised "drink when you're thirsty, the body knows what it needs" story that made a lot more sense, but never so clearly exactly HOW too much water can be bad for you. Natrium... well, that explains "Na".

If my high school science teacher had taught as well as Dr. Sanford does, I probably would have retained a lot more over the years. The only thing that sticks in my mind after all these years is "Do what ya oughta, add acid to waata".
