Yes, that's a $10 cover price.
Have you guys heard about this? I don't think there are many Ninja Turtles fans here, but this is really cool, in my opinion. Peter Laird stopped working on the current TMNT series to focus on the movie that came out last year and then had trouble getting back into writing the book. No new issues came out for around two years.
About six months back, Laird announced he had plans to bring the series back, but did not want to go through Diamond. He said he has no ill will towards them, but he does the book mostly for his own amusement, it has very low sales and loses money every issue so Diamond was just a big hassle for him. He was also interested in taking comics digital, which is evident by the fact that the earliest Ninja Turtles comics have slowly been added to the TMNT website. So the plan he came up with: offer the new issues for free online, or in a limited edition, high priced printed form.
The $10 becomes a lot more reasonable when you find out that there are only 1000 copies printed and many of them have sketches from Laird himself. If you're still not interested in paying that kind of money, www.wowio.com has the entire 29 issue run of TMNT vol 4 up for free, though it does force you to sign up and give credit card info. The newest issue is also available to read in lower quality at www.ninjaturtles.com
What do you guys think about this? It's definitely not something that would work for many comics, but it's good to see that Peter Laird, who has no need to be keeping up with current trends in comics and yet still seems to blazing new trails.
Also, here's the sketch I got with mine : http://flickr.com/photos/cormano/2432776620/sizes/o/
