View Full Version : Diggnation twice a week? A Diggnation spinoff?

I have no idea if either Kevin, Alex or any of the crew has the time for it, but I personally would like to see more Diggnation. Maybe shoot two episodes on the same day like they did when they were in Amsterdam?
Or perhaps a spin-off of sorts. I remember awhile back there was a non-Revision Diggnation style show that covered things from the political section of Digg. Maybe recreate something similar?
There are so many popular stories on Digg across all sections that I think it could support multiple weekly shows.

Honestly, I like it how it is now. If they doubled the output, that puts Alex in a bind with TRS. He already can't do CAC because of timing issues with TRS and DN.
Actually, The Digg Reel is a spin off of Diggnation. Diggnation talks about everything on Digg and comments on it while Digg reel talks about just videos. Like the show or not, but that's what the Digg Reel is. But I see what you mean. But it's not going to happen. Just because everyone is really busy. Like MD said Alex can't do CAC because of his current shows, and Kevin has like three websites he's running, Glen does a lot at Rev3 including the Gazette, plus they all have a life on the side. So that leaves us with only one show a week and the Digg Reel, the spin off that has very little to do with the original show. I'm fine with just that

Obviously Kevin has duties with Digg & Revision3 but does Alex have a regular job other than auditions? Does the rest of the crew? Maybe my second idea of a spin-off style show would work better, could use different hosts since the content would be a little different. Maybe a rotating cast from the Rev3 staff who can do point/counterpoint to some popular stories from the political section?

No. It's fine the way it is now.

I admit i'd like to see another epsiode a week. I just wouldnt want it to come at the cost of the quality of the show it's self. I wouldn't want it to water everything down.
Maybe someone should pitch like a Daily Dose of Digg, and have like 3 stories that can be commented on in a short like 2 minute blurb? I just dont see a second show working.
I'd rather rock with one... and have Totally rad show on tuesdays.

Honestly, I hate the idea of Daily shows in general. Though it's probably because most of them end up being telling you a bit a news/information you've probably already heard.

I don't like this idea. Diggnation is diggnation. It is fine how it is.

The more I think about it, the less I like the idea of having two episodes per week. I agree now there's too much risk it could dilute the quality. I couldn't get into The Digg Reel. With only one host it lacks the banter that adds fun and quality to the other shows.

Agreed, but we watch Diggnation, and thats... all news we've already heard?
Though I concur. Unless there was 1 extra a month. for like.. the monthly blow out round up? I dunno.
I really just want one a week, it's good. I wouldn't mind it expanding to a full hour? Maybe thats the compromise. Instead of the 30 ish.. make it closer to 55 min?
I just like the show once a week. I wouldnt ask for more in terms of more days

If you want news daily or something go to webb alert or something..who really watches diggnation for the stories alone..really?
It's more about how Kevin/Alex react to the stories and being that diggnation is on once a week esp on a friday night to kick off the weekend is perfect.
Alex and Kevin ARE the face of Diggnation IMO and also I think the spinoff now with diggreel is terrible.
To me it's fine as is It's not broke so don't try and fix it and milking off the success diggnation sounds like a bad idea to me personally.

Diggnation is not just the story, which is what every daily show ends up being. They are all rushing to tell you the story, Diggnation as it is right now, is Kevin and Alex talking about the story or something that the story reminded them of. i.e. it's not just tell you the story and then move on.

it is fine the way right now. but i would say, they should cover maybe 2 to 4 more stories per show.

I'd love to see a one hour show. That's a good compromise. :D

I think we should just be happy that we're still getting new Diggnations at all, especially with Alex living in LA and having to travel to San Fran. Props to them for keeping it up.

I could see a diggnation style "Intern Show" working. It would be interesting and would not need to be as formal or structured as even diggnation. Hell, even audio-only could be fun. Such shows always seem to be interesting, if only for a few episodes.

I agree, it's fine as it is, there are loads of other good Vid/Podcasts on Revision 3 so I don't see why you would need more.....
