It seems like one of those symbols the army uses to tell their officers that the pictures are being taken of them forcefully by their enemy captors. Usually subtle and uniformed. (ie, everyone puts up a middle finger, or crosses their fingers in a photo)

I think Alex is a military controlled robot. And they are trying to stop Rev3 from taking over the world.

Considering he has said numerous times before that Heather doesn't watch Diggnation, I highly doubt it was a secret message to her.

Gotta geek right here. History on the ear tug - Carol Burnett is well known for tugging on her ear every time she ended her show. It's a signal to her grandmother to let her know that all was well. It's pretty well known in the entertainment field and to those who follow comedians. I wouldn't be surprised if Senor Alex knew this.

It's probably something to do with Dave Randolph leaving. Even though the ep was shot in October 07.

That was my first thought when I saw this topic.
I think back then it was frowned upon to say hello to people you knew or something so she started doing that.

It quit being a theory when Alex said it, on Diggnation, that he went to Bohemian Grove for a week. Just 5 episodes before this no less.

Whether the stories of what they do there are true, i don't know. But this is proof he's been.
