Totally decadent and totally delicious-o...

Classic French onion soup, tenderloin medallions in maitre d' butter w/ sauteed sweet onions & green beans. And a 7 & Seven, natch.

I have sort of a out there question. For any of the art fans, where do you go for your creative fix? Blogs, news, portal sites, podcasts. Whatever.

I've always had a fairly passive interest in art, in that I of course appreciated it, but overall wrote it off as beyond my talent and comprehension. Then I took a couple animation classes this spring quarter and it was really cool to be opened up to this weekly free flowing forum of discussion and suggestions and cool finds and things of the sort. So now that that's done and over I find myself really kind of missing being in at least some distant corner of the loop.

Whoops. Sorry Paper. Ook ook?

I just had a parent-teacher conference. It's so weird to go to those. The kid who hates all his teachers is still in there somewhere.

"Your daughter is doing great. She's very intelligent. She has a lot of friends."

"Yeah, what's it to you? I mean . .. thanks."

"She reads and writes better than anyone in the class."

"What are you trying to say? I mean ... thanks."

It's odd. Meeting with teachers and going to t-ball practice has become a part of my life. I knew it would happen, but I don't know that I necessarily always think of myself that way.

Full view of the Adam Huges 'Women of DC" poster. Seems we were wrong in naming the woman sitting in the chair Donna Troy. It's supposedly, Batwoman. Which I am not quite sure how I feel about given her pose and attire. Sorta cheap, no?

http://i29.tinypic.com/a0eb9g.jpg

Also, Harley to the left of Ivy. Which I think is kinda awesome. Subtle. But Batwoman. There is a problem there.

I see no problem in having the lesbian be the only one in pants. I mean clearly someone who fights crime in skin-tight latex balks at the sexualization a dress would provide.

Oi.

I dunno. It's feels cheap to have the lesbian in a pants suit sitting with her legs spread. Certainly the sentiment of balking at the sexulazation of evening gowns doesn't mesh with the rest of the piece or Batwoman's character.

Stereotype? Laziness? Inside joke?

Actually I think it was all just an act of composition. There needed to be some one in a chair to offset Barbra in the wheel chair. Also this drawing is meant to be up in your face, look how they have most of the women situated plus Wonder woman in the center very much up in your face. The choice the artist did with Batwoman in the chair I think just comes from the need to make it up in your face. It's hard to be in your face in a chair, this is one of the best ways they could have done it.

Wait. Cynicism came across right?

But to be perfectly fair I didn't notice until you brought it up.

It did, it did.

Perhaps my attempt was poorer...

"Certainly the sentiment of balking at the sexualization of evening gowns doesn't mesh with the rest of the piece or Batwoman's character."

But yeah. I don't like the implication if that is Batwoman. I would have preferred Renee and Kathy next to one another, maybe with Kathy's arm around Renee's hips. Relaxed in pose as say Liberty Belle and Hourman are portrayed. Or even similar to that of Zatanna's hand on Dinah's shoulder in the image. But let their (Renee & Kathy), sexuality be a part of their character. Not just a gimmick or the token dykes. Blech @ that.

However, I like Harley and Ivy not touching. The closeness of their physical and emotional state is very tactful in that instance.

So I start a new job this week, data entry. I come in and get told the receptionist that was going to be starting this week has pink eye. So basically I get double duty.

On the one hand the place is slow as fuck, so that rocks. On the other. I hate god damn telephones. I hate that I don't know anything about this company so I keep just making up stuff to get people off said telephone. I hate the guy who said laughed and hung up when I asked who it was again he wanted to talk to (I didn't see the name on the phone list!!). We unfortunately didn't get to hang out much because of our schedules and because he was on the far north and I on the far south. Today is one of the best days of my life.

Two weeks ago I took the ACT test and today I received my scores. For that particular test I scored a 31. However most colleges super-score (let's you take your best scores in each section from the different number of tests you've taken) and once that's done to my test I will have a 33.

This pretty much means that I can go wherever I want for college and that my parents aren't going to have to pay for much of it at all.

I'm not really trying to be self-absorbed here. But I write this to simply share with you all God's providence in my life. Now my only prayer is that I may be a good steward of what He has given me.

That's really impressive! Congrats! Hope you visited some Ivy League schools!

Yale is the only one that interests me. Some of the schools that are ivy-league caliber but just not as old (Duke and Vanderbilt) do seem very appealing to me.

However I'm not sure if I want that much stress. The reason I like Samford is that it's a good, solid school that I feel like I would be comfortable at and attendance would be free for me. I could then go the prestigious route with Grad school and save my parent's money.

This is exciting news for sure. Good for you!

Arrrrg, I hate that the Saturday show goes up later than the minis. I've been dying to see the NYCC show all week. I gotta stop waking up at 6AM on the weekend.

We ain't got no place to go, so let's go to the punk rock show!!
darling take me by the hand
we're gonna see a punk rock band
there's no use in TV shows
radio or rodeo
I wanna get into the crowd
I wanna hear it played real loud, YEAH...

Just topped my weekend off with a MXPX show that I spent $24 on just to see them (I skipped the two opening acts and fucking bullshit Chiodos headlining). Those dudes are fucking awesome live. Fucking ridiculous.

So in the past twenty four hours I've seen that show, saw my Pens win a playoff game, and picked up something like 80 issues of Marv Wolfman New Teen Titans and two new sketches for my book at PittCon. Oh, and I saw the guy who plays The Chief on Battlestar sing "New York, New York" karaoke style last night as well.

That's a good fucking weekend despite my having only slept 9 hours since noon Friday. Now I get to look forward to working 9 of the next 10 days. Woo!!

I'm looking over my posts today and I SWEAR guys, i'm not trying (intentionally) to be argumentative. It looks like 4 out of 5 threads i've been posting on have been in reaction to others comments, but i swear im not trying to be a dick ;)
I'm just bored at work

I could have sworn I just saw Irene from Real Word Seattle on the revision3 homepage. Surely I'm just imagining it.

Instinctively, I began to slap at the air. Good thing no one was around.

So that is Irene. She's hosting the new show Social Brew. Odd.

I actually had goosebumps on the back of my neck as I read the bit about transcendence. And I mean that sincerely and without hyperbole for once. Maybe the best review I ever read of a single issue or of A-S Superman ever.

5/5, indeed.
