Following the launch of the free video and voice chat service Go!Messenger in February, Sony has announced it now plans to bring video downloads to its handheld Portable PlayStation device.

Go!View promises to provide a wealth of programming from the worlds of entertainment, comedy, sport and movies when it launches this summer.

In a joint venture with Sky, Sony's latest initative to attract buyers to its portable games and media system will see it offering users the chance to create their own TV schedule on either a subscription or pay-per-view basis.

"Go!View allows PSP users to take advantage of a unique service,
adding another dimension to PSP's offering," said Owen Jenkinson, Go!View marketing manager.

"The opportunity to watch top TV and movies on the go and on demand will allow PSP owners to enjoy their favourite entertainment on their own terms, enhancing the PSP's offering as a portable gaming console."

Great news for UK PSP owners.

Seeing as this will be coming out on the PSP you just KNOW it's going to get hacked by someone to create a better and (more importantly) free service!

The more work Sony do, the more the hackers get done for free - for example there had been people coding a PS1 emulator for the PSP, then Sony released theirs and it simply got modded by hackers so now anyone with a PS1 game ripped or downloaded as an ISO can play it on their PSP.

Ok...so the subscription to Sky may not be possible to hack but there have got to be other avenues this coding could be used for...right?

so clearly this is another of Phil Harrison's babies even if he is out. Why, oh why have your forsaken North America? Could it be all the DSiots and the sluggish sales in North America? I promise to go buy a PSP slim if Sony enables this for North America. Sadly I'm fairly sure they won't.
