Do you like wine? If you do and you are renting a car go visit Sonoma Valley or Napa Valley. Fisherman's Wharf?

I'm not 100% sure if it's in SF, but the Metreon would be something I'd like to see. It's like the ultimate video game arcade/museum.

Alcatraz - make sure you do the ranger guided tour rather than just the audio tour.
Since there are 4 of you, consider going to Teatro Zinzanni (http://love.zinzanni.org/) one night.
Head south to Mountain View and visit the Computer History Museum (http://www.computerhistory.org/).
Fishermans Wharf for Chowder is also an obvious call.

The computer history museum looks so cool, definetly gonna go there! Do you have a link for the alcatraz ranger guided tour?

Is this what you mean? http://www.alcatrazcruises.com/website/tour-comparison.aspx I was going to take the audio tour but if you suggest we take the regular tour we def will.

We did a tour a couple of years ago called "The Great Escapes" (well, great attempted escapes - there are no docuemented cases of a successful escape). The advantage of the ranger tours is that they take you to places you can't go without a guide. the site you linked to is pretty much the boat and entry ticket to the prison. Guided tours are offered on the island by park rangers, but are seasonal and vary depending on who is onsite that day. The audio tour is very well done, and included in the admission (I think), but the extra impact from the rangers who you can ask question of during the tour is worth it.

I love being a local.

Okay, Metreon is in SF, but not really worth going out of your way to see. It's not a video game mecha, never was, just was once practically owned by Sony. Actually, it is, but still. Not worth it unless there's something specific going on.

Computer History Museum. That place is special to me. Cody came up in 2006, before we got together, so we could go to Vintage Computer Festival there. It's also just plain interesting anyway.

China Town is over-rated. It's all Americanized and geared toward tourists.

Aquarium of the Bay, Zinzanni, and Fisherman's Wharf are all right by each other. Zinzanni may be a bit on the expensive side. If you're down there, go behind Pier 41 to see the Liberty Ship and the submarine. The kids will love those and you and your wife will love the history.

so assuming you're into the whole drinkin thing..
Toronado
Thirsty Bear
Moylan's (east bay, but completely worth it. Their Hopsicle and Irish Dry Stout are to die for)

Thanks for the suggestions, no kids though, but me and the wife love history, we are in our mids 20's :D.

yes I am into the drinking thing and any places with good beers or drinks are appreciated. I am still debating the Zinzani place, looks AWESOME, the reviews are great but its $116 per head and about $14 per drink. Do you guys think its worth it?

Ah, I read that as "kids." Babies on the brain.

Do you guys think its worth it?I suggested it because it is something a little different. It really is dinner theater in its purest form, and a lot of fun. Food is good. Drinks are restaurant prices. Price is comparable to a theatre ticket and a (non buffet, sitdown) meal in Las Vegas.

Something to think about if nothing else.

note that this is up in marin, not over east bay. (novato, ca- about 1/2 hr 45 minutes from downtown SF)
