It is a bit strange the Revision 3 is on twitter because Kevin Rose was on of the creators of Pownce. So, it is almost like double dipping to be on twitter. Pownce may be a much better solution in terms of the technology and features that they offer; however, twitter has a stronghold on the "micro-blogging" market. In any event, I am glad to see Rev 3 on twitter

I think Kevin has made a somewhat non-BS defense of a world where Twitter and Pownce can co-exist peacefully. Sure they are competition for a wide variety of their market, but twitter is clearly a market leader and has some applications like notifying alot of people fast. Pownce is more general, share what you will with people, messages, files, etc. Also Pownce seems to concentrate more on true social networking while as much as twitter may be used for networking in pratice, its features only really lend themselves to function as a messaging tool effectively. And lastly considering that social networking like this is really a new thing. There is still a ton of critical innovation to be had, so its premature to jump to conclusions about, well, anything. Twitter networks have thousands of users, which is several orders of magnitude below the internet at large, and yet look at the impact it has had already.

Well Im on Twitter, I think there is no need to open a pownce acct. Besides I got no geeky friends.
There are just 3 Twitter users in Indio, CA, Im the only one using it daily, this town is pathetic.

I'm in the same boat as you. No geek friends and the ones that are close wont even sign up for twitter or pownce and if they did they don't use it. Yet I twitter everyday and pownce every few days with questions. Oh my poor not so techy friends!

I'm curious if there are any rev3 people or personalities on Brightkite (http://brightkite.com/people/kowgod/)? Could be an interesting alternative for live rev3 events to be able to have all of the audience checking in and posting at the live venues, etc.

I actually am digging brightkite more than twitter or pownce, to be honest.
