Drop the MBA from the list. Lack of WAN and expansion kills that one.

Take a look at the HP 2133 (http://h71016.www7.hp.com/dstore/ctoBases.asp?BEID=19701&ProductLineId=539&oi=E9CED&FamilyId=2769&LowPrice=%24729.00&LowBaseId=23430&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN#). Everything Air can do, and then some, for 1/3 the price.

price is not an issue

this is going to be paid for from my angel investor's investment :D

and my company is going to run high on style as part of the 'brand' so it is a legitimate expense

WAN however is essential

what about sound quality

don't gaming types have better sound

The M1330 is a lovely machine, also the Sony range of Ultraportables is really nice. I used a TZ for 18 mths and loved it.

Although I am a mac user I've always liked the Toshiba Lifebooks for small lightweight PC's. I did some sales training on these laptops as they seemed like well built machines.

I think you will be making a serious mistake if you dont go with the new line of macbooks.

The macs are nice, but there is only one way to go skyz. Asking here is never gonna get you anything you want. Go down to Fry's or CompUSA or Bestbuy or whoever is out there by you and TOUCH some PC's. Touch the mac's in your local apple store. I work in this area and i can tell you that one thing, its never what you want till you go down and try it.

Personally im a big fan of macs but i can say the macbook i have, the speakers are weak. They sound good, but unless im going deaf, which is possible, they are not loud enough for my tastes. They get drowned out by other noise too easy.

HP makes some real fine laptops right now too.

Other then that, i cant stress my main point enough. Go down and check them out, even if you order online, test them in the store.

Good luck.

If you have picked a corporate colour pallet (I have :) ), go to colorware.com and get a Macbook Pro customised in your colour pallet. You wil be assured of standing out in the boardroom.

of course i have picked out the colors ;)

i even have an attorney (this is my new big news this guy is special) :)

i had a feng shui reading and it said if i wore pink it would attract wealth :p

the corporate colors are not all pink but have pink in there

i'm going to get a pink crackberry :p

and since this is a company founded by a female it works

i could see the mac

but i was wondering about something more exotic

like alienware or voodoo

but i was wondering about something more exotic

like alienware or voodooAhhhh ... you mean

like Dell or HP

i suspect that given the sort of person you are

(or are perceived to be online)

the software you need will be more macintosh

focused than wintel.

Apple make great hardware. Its lightweight and has a great support program behind it (AppleCare). Customised via colorware.com, and even if you are running Windows on the machine, I think you will have a means to wow people. ALSO, the Keynote(tm) presentation software available on the Mac is amazing.

For your WAN access, I would sugest you take the approach I have - get a Blackberry from Verizon, add in the tethered modem option, and use the blackberry as your WAN. EVDO speed is near broadband, and this way it is a single consolidated bill (even with generous angel funding, fiscal responsibility is required).

I wish I could do that with my iphone! I'm considering adding the 3g network card for my mbpIt is the primary reason I am not swapping to the iPhone (well until 2.0 comes out ;) )

Apples excellent customer support is almost reason enough to get a Mac. If you get a Mac Apple will take care of you if you have a problem. Make sure you get AppleCare. If you have a problem they'll definitely take care of you.

Totally off topic, but have any of you guys checked out Hardy Heron yet? I think I'm in love. Im switching the family PC from Windows to Ubuntu for good this weekend. :)

ha ha voodoo by hp  has a model called 'envy' that would send an interesting subliminal message :D and it comes in pink

yes i am going to get the pink crackberry

fiscal responsibility: of course i admire style but abhor waste

but what a clever entrepreneur am i to integrate my style requirements as part of the brand

by being a fashion icon i can make my company's presence felt in the world of fashion and its association with luxury quality brands (this is marketing)

and i get to wear fabulous clothes and have elegant toys
