As someone who is quite a fan of my MBP and who plays games on his bootcamp partition once in a blue moon, I have to say it works quite great but is also cheating a bit, at least for the 15" Macbook Pro. The 8600M with 256 MB of VRAM mine has drives my system to max settings in most normal games and to medium-ish settings in new demanding games. But this is largely because the 15" resolution is only 1440x900 which is going to be smaller than most gaming-grade PC notebooks of comparable size.

Frankly, even as a programmer who loves real estate this is not really an issue for me at all and I actually view it as mostly a pro of not needing to drive as many pixels to get a comparable image, and will note that the Macbook Pro panel itself is one of the cleaner looking laptop panels I've seen. Many cheaper notebooks with super high res screens(*cough*hp*cough*) tend be be really washed out or have poor backlight evenness etc. Still, that being said. Dells XPS notebooks Alienware notebooks, Falcon, etc, etc are going to give you much more resolution and better gaming performance possible at that resolution almost every time. And you might be able to get a card that lets you use drivers from the chip maker instead of your notebook vendor which is always nice for gamers. So it all depends on if the extra resolution at a 15" panel size matters to you, or if you want a 17" notebook, or if gaming on an external 20"+ monitor with your laptop is important to you or not.

You can always use the drivers from http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/ , works great on my 15" mbp under bootcamp.

Yeah, It doesn't get much better then a MacBook Pro. They are even a better deal now with the new upgrades.

Buried as: Ok, This is lame

BTW my desktop PC that I paid prob the same price as a MBP can run Crysis at much higher and better settings than those...
