I buy lots of clothes there, specifically Ben Sherman shirts and Bacco Bucci shoes. I know there's a good chance they're stolen, but, man, the selection is so good. I also like to look at watches that are out of my price range, like Gerald Genta and Glycine Airman. I also like to see how much those Miracleman trades are going for nowadays or if there's a very low grade Uncanny X-Men #1 for a good price.

I got Battlestar Galactica 2.0 and 2.5 on DVD because I love those commentaries.

How about you guys? Anything you like to browse for or notice any weird items like college students selling their virginity?

I buy watches off Ebay roo. It's one of my fashion fetishes.

Before I got in on the Instocktrades dealie, trades and HCs as well. Now I only look there occasionally for OOP stuff and such.

And, of course, vinyl records galore. Pretty sure I put someone's child through college already. But goddamn if this Hoor Paar Kraat LP wasn't worth every bloody penny.

Am I rite?

How do you guys find this stuff? Just do a search under "stuff The Devil likes?"

Labor, what brand of watch do you like? I like those Nixon and Diesel watches. I'm a sucker for woodgrain. Tend to prefer the stainless steel band, too.

I tend to prefer a stainless steel band over leather as well. Gold and silver are also far more agreeable than leather. Really I just hate leather bands. Unless the face is appropriately beautiful.

No specific affinity to brands. I buy what looks nice to my eye and what style I am going for. I view watches as a woman views her purse; dependent on occasion + outfit. Although, I have a high percentage Heuer, Rolex and Victorinox watches. A few Baume & Mercier, Jaeger LeCoultre and a Nardin piece in the collection.

Though for every dressy watch, I find myself going back to my beloved Victorinox. Manly and sophisticated. Hearts 4 life.

I like to search through the comics section looking for missing issues for my Captain America (1st series) collection.

I avoid eBay for the same reason as my library phobia. Which you may have heard of. The story is elaborate.

I have an eBay alert for any transformation cards that come up.

If you're unfamiliar with these cards, he's a Wikipedia article I wrote about them: Transformation playing card (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transformation_playing_card).

I have about 30 decks. I just think that they're really cool.

You guys are, like, totally freaking me out.

I'm sure there's some formula for combining tiki glasses, obscure vinyl, and transformation cards that could bring about the end of the world. It's like something out of Hellblazer.

I have a friend who is really into Tiki glasses and mugs also. He had quite the magnificent collection that was mostly vintage. I thought it was a singular obsession, but apparently I am wrong.

Nah, that's a popular thing to collect. Blair's got a sort of 50s and 60s Hawaii lounge theme going. Very cool.

I guess my thing is 30s. If I had more room to decorate, I'd probably be collecting pulp imagery. Vintage magician posters, escapist paraphernalia, Dustbowl era carnival photos, old Broadway stuff.

Nautical too. Like, I'd kill to have a full antique dive suit. Like a diving bell.

I guess that is where the Kahuna in Kahunablair came from. Yes, this is making more sense by the minute.

I have this photo book of images from the 30's and there is this picture of a nightclub in London that, "...was quite possibly a place for cads and bounders." I can totally see you being the photog in a prior life.

Indeed.
I'm a big fan of the modern day Tiki Culture rezatilization of the 50s and 60s. If I could, I'd want to live in one of Shag's paintings (http://www.shag.com/).

In my demented little mind, TikiBarTV is pretty much a love letter the creators wrote to me.

Where were you a few years ago? A friend of mine inherited a place down by the shore. It was a dusty little Seafood shack that he had no interest to run.

So he sold off all the decor and sold the place. There were many a old diving helmets. He had a full suit and some guy paid him some major money for that one.
There were anchors, nets, and some quite cool little boats. I don't even like model boats, but these things were snazzy.

I loooooved shag art when I was a teen. I was crazy into it. Never collected the stuff, because... I was a teenager and all my disposable cash went to concert, music and junk food. But I'm in Blair, I'm in.

Now my style is very much minimalist and modern, I like the bizarre and repurposed, but I'm also utilitarian and twitch at people's abundance of clutter. Ebay is great for the eclectic and unique, but like Pol I try to keep my distance.

I think the reason why it stuck out to me was because this friend didn't buy into any other aspect of this nostalgia. He is about 180 degrees away from it, closer to gothic even. That is why out of context with him it seemed singular. Now that you have added the background it makes more sense.

As for me, I don't really have anything because ninja kitty Satchmo likes to knock everything off everywhere (he apparently hates clutter) and he also breaks everything he can. For example, I have plastic lamps to deal with his rough and tumble lifestyle, but even they have broken over time. I have nothing nice and everything is temporary with him.

I was on a Raydeen action figure kick for awhile. Love those Japanese mecha designs.
