I saw it last night and thought it was one of the worst trailers ever. There was no point to it at all. It has the same look all the other animated movies that spawned from animated series have so its not like they were trying to show that off. Im still wondering what was the point of the trailer?

Look funny. I don't want to know what it's about. It's the Simpsons guys, we pretty much know how this movie's gonna be.

It tells me the movie is funny, that's all I need.

I find it funny that they are talking about 2-D when clips in the trailer utilize cel-shaded 3-D animation. But regardless it does look pretty damn good.

Interesting. I'll probably go see it at some point, unless of course the plot is stopping some big corporation with a wrecking ball.

I dunno, I personally think The Simpson's isn't The Simpson's anymore, don't know how to explain it, the humor in the older (better) seasons is so much different than the humor in the new episodes. It almost seems like they're trying to be like Family Guy, case in point: The rock and a hard place joke.

I still watch The Simpsons, but only the older ones, the new ones are painfully... unintelligent to me...

I feel you on that one, man. I've been trying for a while to articulate why the show doesn't do it for me anymore, and I think it's because the jokes are no longer character based. In the "good" seasons, a joke would revolve around Homer's idiotic reaction to someone else's intelligent presentation, Marges willful naivete, Lisa's uber-smarts and obsesive nature, etc. These days it just seems like the characters are spouting one liners (that generally aren't funny, to me anyway) that could have been said by any of the characters, ignoring the character humor that made the show work in the first place.

And you're right, that is Family Guy's schtick, but I find it funny on FG because that's what that show is about, absurdist humor, and it does it well. The Simpsons (for all it's absurd tentancies) was grounded in character continuity, personality wise, and that's what made it funny. For me, anyway.

I agree that the older seasons are the better seasons, but I just can't see myself watching something else on Sundays at 8p.m. The older shows had a feel to them that some of the antics that happened might just happen to you in your life (Homer is attracted to a new co-worker "Mindy" or Bart almost has to repeat the 4th grade). Now it just seems like they're just filling time with celebrity guests like Tony Hawk, and the writers seem like they are pulling ideas out of...a hat. I think a lot of the lackluster episodes of late have to do with the release of the movie, and it also has to do with salary/contract disagreements/negotiations that the staff and Fox have had to deal with in the last couple of years. The red tape takes away from the creativity. I will give them credit for good use of satire in their Halloween episode this year though. The War of the Worlds/Iraq parallel was great.

The Simpsons have been a part of my life since my parents let me watch the shorts on the Tracy Ullman show. The trailer was disappointing, but I will be in line on opening night with my $9.00 in hand to participate in the viewing.

WooHoo! :)

i agree, the simpons lost alot of their humor once conan o'brien left. so did SNL. but i dont think anybody should get their hopes up for the Simpons movie, its just simpons, nothing deep or groundbreaking.

I loved how they started it, making you wonder WTF?! But then it....

Well, see, they had a good idea with it, but should have chosen some other piece of animation rather than Homer and a wrecking ball, though being smacked literally between a rock and "A Hard Place" was great. We can always hope it does what South Park did and actually turn out something worth watching and watching and watching to the point that I have it entirely memorized and can tell you where Jesus is and all that stuff.

yet another bad teaser for The Simpsons Movie has been posted" http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=13911

it's the exact same as the 2nd teaser (1st trailer, whatever) for the first 40 seconds. and then it has another single gag (this one featuring Bart and Homer fixing the roof). no explanation of the storyline, no montage of scenes... just one joke. these are the worst trailers ever!
