Just watched it. There's a lot of killer dialogue between Zuko and Sokka.
Sokka: "My first girlfriend turned into the moon."
Zuko: "That's rough, buddy."
That just tickled me.

Just watched part 1, it was brilliant. Sokka and Zuko are hilarious together, hopefully they'll get teamed up more.
Still have about 10 minutes to wait for part 2
Edit: I also agree about Suki

Ep 2 was, dare I say it, epic!!
Suki and Ty-Lee rematch!! No bending, just martial arts. I wish it had gone on much longer.
Killer ending. This show just keeps getting better and better.
Holyshit holyshit holyshit holyshit.
Boy oh boy did I ever pick a fantastic time to lurk for the 2nd time ever. I have to work in 10 hours but goddamn if I am going to let myself sleep before I download and watch this.
Thanks, folks.

Best fight scene ever, beyond epic! Although, I thought that Azula's jet pack bit was a little over the top.

Considering how powerful they're making her, I have a feeling that she's going to take her father's place before the end of book 3 and Aang will end up fighting her in the finale.

I always felt that the current fire lord's character is way under-developed. It would definitely be interesting to see her as the fire lord, but I feel like it'd be a jip to go through all that only to face what has all along been a secondary threat.
rokov
04-26-2008, 10:16 AM
She started off as a secondary threat, mostly to replace Zuko when he inevitably turned good (saw that coming from the beginning), but she's practically become a super-villain by this point. I definitely think that she's a match for Aang.
Considering how powerful they're making her, I have a feeling that she's going to take her father's place before the end of book 3 and Aang will end up fighting her in the finale.
I'd say that's a pretty good guess. From the press release announcing the Book 3: Volume 4 DVD (from http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Avatar-Airbender-Season-3-Volume-4/9384):
"The kids return to the Fire Nation and prepare for their final confrontation with Firelord Ozai, but they discover that the Firelord has plans of his own: he has ordained himself Phoenix Lord and appointed Princess Azula as the next Firelord. In the spectacular 4-part finale of Avatar Book 3: Fire, Aang fulfills his destiny as Avatar and confronts the Firelord in the greatest battle of the series."
A few options with that. 1) It's bunk 2) It's real and they just mean "Firelord" in the context that we've always known it, Ozai 3) They mean it literally and in agreement with their previous statements, ie: Azula. Given that it's worded that the confrontation with the Firelord is the "Big Fight", that'd mean that Ozai, who they claim to be "Phoenix Lord" is no longer the big cheese. Knowing Azula, that probably means dead.
rokov
04-26-2008, 11:34 AM
Was Iroh ever confirmed dead? (Edit: I just checked and he wasn't) They might bring him back to take on his brother (it would be kind of poetic) while Aang fights Azula (I really want Aang vs. Azula lol). Think about it, all along Iroh has been touted as this major badass (the one man army), but we've never really seen him fight. What better ending that for him to suddenly reappear and finally show what he can do. It's Zuko's inner conflict come to life.

ohhhh snackerdoodle was that some good Avatar WATCHING!!!
boiling rock part one is a good episode but part two ohhhhh snap
Azula is all alone now ... by her own volition.
I'm gonna enjoy watching the unraveling of this Narcissistic Sociopath and seeing all the little things in her subconscious that just start to ooze to the surface.

I remember at last year's ComicCon they showed a bunch of storyboards, which included the scene of Suki running over everyone's heads.
At the time they said that it wasn't Ty-Lee and nobody believed them. Me included.
After getting thoroughly trounced last season, it's awesome to see that Suki can throw down with the best of them. it was great to finally see some honest-to-God fisticuffs in the show.

Just read somewhere that this season will be the last one and then they are gonna start making the movie. Is that right? I heard about the movie but haven't heard anything about the animated series ending.

I must have been the only one not impressed with the tram fight scene.
I mean, both episodes were great. But people are saying things like "best fight evar!" and such, and its not even close. There's probably ten better battles in Avatar than this one.
And yeah, Jetpack Azula was...unexpected.
Agreed. If she can 'fly', then where does her power end?I don't really see that that it makes her particularly powerful. Its more useful than it is offensive. I mean, Aang can fly WAY better/faster than she can.

i think the idea of making Azula so powerful is to make her a serious match for a fully-realized Avatar. cause i don't care how powerful Phoenix Lord (wtf?) Ozai is, there is no way he'll be able to beat Aang if he's bending all four elements. but Azula has a good chance

Generally the video files are in DIVX, so you'd need to at least download the codec. You can get the player as well, but I don't know how it all works on the Mac.

I liked the tram fight, its not as great as some of the big Earth bending battles, but it was a nice change of pace. Usually fights are super fast, with crazy levels of elevation involved, but this one was slow and meticulous, I liked it a lot.
Also, BETRAYAL ON THE HIGH SEAS! Loved the ending.

Is it just me or are things getting heavily stacked against the bad guys? The only ones left now are Azula and the Fire Lord it seems. I wonder if they will add more villains soon? I also heard there are only 6 episodes left, is that true? Loved these two episodes.

but Azula alone can pretty much take anybody. the Fire Lord is above her in skill, (im assuming), theres still a giant struggle for Aang. Plus the Fire Nation rules and dominates quite a large amount of territory. They are still winning.

One thing I want to see resolved is how did Azula know about the first invasion?
One possible explanation is that Jet may still be alive and he told her. But I can't remember if he ever knew about the eclispe.

The DVD just came in from netflix today. All in all they were great episodes. I dont know about anyone else, but the fact that I know there's only a few more **NEW** avatar episodes left until the series concludes makes me very sad :(
This is such a great show, I want it to continue on, though I know that a decision like that could compromise the quality of the story. Still, very sad :(
P.s. I agree, Suki looks great w/o all her makeup on. Couldn't stand that

Azula and the other two girls go undercover as the Kyoshi warriors that they capture in an earlier episode, and while they are helping protect the Earth King he tells them of the invasion. Then later on they plan the coup to take over the Earth Kingdom.
