is anyone looking forward to this HBO series? I read the book and loved it, and with a couple close family members still over there, I guess I am more interested in it than most.

Give me some info please. Just the fact that it's HBO is promising though.

Its a series based on a reporter from the Rolling Stone's trip with a battallion during the Iraq invasion in 2003.

I read the article about the film. Ed Burns, The Wire is gonna direct it. It looks like he is gonna use a mix of actors and more or less 'real people'

...Im pretty excited to check this out.

(also check out Frontline's special -- "We Go to War" or something. It's docu - news peace about these young reporters in Afghanistan after 9/11 before the Iraq War)

I think this looks to be a great miniseries. HBO has a wonderful track record and The Wire is my favorite TV series of all time. I cant wait, got the DVR set, cocked and locked :p

Wow. You can totally tell! I did not really enjoy watching Generation Kill... It jumped around too much, or something. I don't know, I can't really explain what I didn't like about it. I did keep thinking "man, this is like The Wire" and now I know why...

Does anyone know what it is that I'm not liking about it, given my weak explanation? Like, what is the proper terminology for what I don't like..?

Weird thing is that I like The Wire more, just it bugs me too.

Meh, I dunno.

Band of Brothers was awesome, though.

I watched the first episode so far, and I loved it. It was really funny, but I've once again got the problem of "which white guy is which?" like I had in Band of Brothers.

That doesn't really change by the end of the 7th episode either.

Especially those two guys who look like twins... I still don't know anyone's name except Ray and Nate.. I think Rudy too, since I was specifically looking for him, as he plays himself.

The scatter-brain presentation of the show doesn't help keep track of people either. Though, I don't recall having that issue with Band of Brothers. At least not past the first part or so.

I loved this mini-series, it felt very authentic to me.

It's a real eye opener and you've really gotta respect the writer who put himself in the shit like that.
