It's about a mile and a half from The Mighty, but it allows people of all ages and has a happy hour, so it's about as close as we could find to a bar that will let in minors. Best of both worlds. Be sure to call a cab or something if needed.
119 Utah St, San Francisco, CA 94103 to 555 Second St, San Francisco, CA 94107
Look it up on Google Maps.

Loving the Air... Enjoying the Mac OS very much. Beta-testing the new Microsoft Live Mesh and chomping at the bit for them to roll out Mac support (supposedly 2 months or so)... which will make my mostly Windows-life play much nicer with the Air. In the meantime, the machine is just awesome.

Bring one of the smallest you carry for me. :) I'm hacking one up into a halter top to wear to the show, so will need a new one that's work-safe since I don't think I should walk around with my tummy showing.

Jim I would also like to that with a shirt. I'm a dude and would need a 4XL size shirt. Let me know if you can get me one.
on a serious note.......
I would love to come to the preparty but I have to wait for the dam UPS guy to come wednesday morning to drop off my shirt and then check into the hotel asap before marching up there for the pregame.
p.s. Rev3 needs to revive their cooking genre with me as the host/cohost. Alex or Heather could be the star of the show which actually provide entertainment while I would be the thankless sidekick who actually does all the work :D.
p.p.s. can i challenge martin to a thumbwar and then headbutt him?

I've wanted to do that, only actually making edible stuff rather than the disasters.

totally agreed aria. if we get the gig we need to do at least one episode focused around liquid nitrogen. it would be even more awesome if we could figure out how to make homemade dippin dots, those things are like crack for me.

This was talked about extensively in the Pilots forum. Kronos and I were really getting into it. But, as neither of us have the funds available and Rev3 likes to keep with the same club of hosts, there's not really a realistic chance to get it off the ground ourselves.
See, I wanted to also include the science behind cooking, such as when to use baking soda versus baking powder, what they do, etc.. Science and culinary go hand in hand, and that's been nearly forgotten.

grrrr, what are they going to relate to interoffice breeding when they need new hosts? the only fear in doing a cooking show is that one would sound too much like alton brown. not that its a bad thing, but i just wouldnt want to be doing the same thing (nor would i just want to be retelling everything he has taught me).
bah, idk.

Know what? I've heard the name, but couldn't point out Alton Brown. I only know he's some guy who cooks.

Heh, duh. Me +1 for sure. Let me know how many we've got so far. Lucky you, on a vacation, while I slave away at a job I hate so much it makes me cry. Is there a way to make a living BS'ing around on the forum all day?

i should be arriving around 2pm at latest. it depends on how badly the caltrain and light rail decide to fuck me up with timing.

This is perfect! I'm planning on driving up to the Bay Area today today. I was going to go to the live taping tonight, but my bro (who's dying to go too) is under 21. So I felt bad not bringing him, knowing how much he wants to meet Alex and Kevin. This would be an awesome thing to bring him to. Hope to see some of you there!

Aw man, if I was in San Fran, I'd so be there.
Zack, we have to get another StL get-together going when you get back in town.
Louderback, you should be here, too!

The under-21 crowd is exactly why we looked for somewhere that allows minors.

I was thinking about arriving at 7:30pm. Think thats too late? Will I even get a seat? I've never been to Mighty nor have I gone to a Live Diggnation so I don't know how packed it will be.
Any thoughts?

Keep in mind that people are going to be there from the live Internet Superstar that is taping before hand. I believe festivities start @ 6 so I would show up then. Zack, Aria, and I will be @ Nova a bit before 3. I will try and post and give everyone and idea as to the parking situation so you aren't blindsided if there isn't any. I would recommend taking Caltrain. The end of the line (King and 4th) is only about a mile from either spot.

Parking is shit at The Mighty. 7:30 will be too late. Be there no later than 6:30. Pre-party's scheduled until 6.

I've been to two tapings, at MacWorld, which ended up standing-room-only (though I snagged a front-row seat by talking nicely to the guy who was in the seat I wanted), and Beach Chalet, which was an absolute madhouse. Sorry, but that place was too damned small and poorly organized in terms of seating, and it was still open as a restaurant where people who weren't there were actually trying to eat. There was a birthday party there that was likely ruined. A nice, quiet night out wasn't happening for that group. The place should have been rented out.
I've been to The Mighty and am not sure if they're planning on seating or people standing.

Mistake we made was scheduling it too long. People were trickling in and out so there was no period of time with everyone there at once. Next time there's a party, the time will be shortened to an hour or an hour and a half. if it runs longer, it does, but at least no one will expect to find a whole group there two hours after start-time.
And we didn't realize there was a Chinese restaurant right next door to Mighty. :) Still, yummy burgers.
