It's sad to see the episodes become shorter and shorter all the time. I miss seeing the hour long shows! Considering its a show that only comes out once a week, I don't think expecting an hour from the show is too much, granted both Alex and Kevin have other responsibilities and things going on. I think Diggnation needs to cut back on pictures, or videos half the people watching the show have already seen, maybe just add them in at the end of the show? Also bring back the beer! Its good to see some more elaboration with the stories, and finding out about the different beers just makes Diggnation the way it is!
Anyone else feel the same?
Great show, and I've been watching since episode one!

I've thought the same thing too. A lower percentage of time focused on the stories as well as a shorter overall length is resulting in a show that's just lacking content. The same sponsors week after week doesn't qualify as content.

yeah... The thing is, the shows aren't going to be an hour long because the tapes are an hour long and they have outtakes. Thoug h to be honnest, they always go on about stories for longer when drinking. I think the drinks help...
I do my own niche webcast, and I note the shows are much longer if I have a beer first...

I agree. I've been watching since the beginning and I've watched every ep and content is down since the beginning. I still think it's good though, except the last live show. What a frigging dud that was. Way too much noise, way too much talking and pointing to the audience who we couldn't hear, too many distractions, too little content, horrible audio quality. The only redeeming item was the T&A at the end. Hopefully they step it back up after that abortion.

They use a HD to record footage on...so they would be able to go over an hour...although I'm not 100% sure that glenn doesn't still use a tape.
Hmm..

They still use tapes for some reason 0,o... I think the production hd cameras are hella expensive.

Panasonic has a cute and cheap HD camera, about $5,000, that uses what looks like PC Cards, they are called P2. The media is real expensive, $1,500 for a 32GB card. I can't tell you how long that records because it depends on what format and compression ratio. At 720p it should give at least 45 minutes. The one camera a buddy has has two P2 slots so you can just continue recording, IF you have cards in both slots. Add to that, Sony has their XD CAM format, nice but the cameras I have seen were much more expensive then the Panasonic's.

I agree! More drunk and longer episodes! Cheers!

They are all on health kicks. They don't want to drink as much. It's pretty obvious...

This a common complaint from the old guard. The more they drift away from actual Digg.com stories, the more diggers complain.
They must be gettng bored of it. "Diggnation" is such a cash cow, I'm not sure they should mess with success.

Yeah Diggnation is such a cash cow because they are giving us less and less content and show loads of advertising.

I use that panasonic camera you are talking about. It's on the cams I use...I still go with the xl2 as my go to, but the p2s are hella simple to use. Such a breeze to edit...uncompressed HD is literally a drag/drop instead of capturing. verrrrry nice.
I liked when they did more tech stories, now it just seems to be stupid stuff.

Hell yeah. I agree 100%. I miss my old tech oriented diggnation.
P.S. just curious as to what cam is being used to record diggnation and what software they edit with. I know there used to be a post about it but I think it may be out-dated.

Im pretty sure diggnation is edited in Final Cut Pro.
