since i work so closely with the news, my colleague told me the news wires were full of spoilers of DC Universe 0, so apparently some major shit went down. I don't know if it will actually hit CNN or anything but i figured i'd post this JUST IN CASE.

mikegraham6

Newsarama spoils it too? i don't get it, it's a comic book website, why would they do that when they know it would piss off their audience

EDIT: I haven't even clicked the link, so i don't know if this is one of fred's jokes or not :)

it's a legit link Mike

I think you need to have been reading DC for a long time for this to be a punch in the gut kind of spoiler. Because I kind of pulled a "so what?"

Yeah, it's legit, no rickrolling there. Since I really am not all that DCU-versed, my first thought upon seeing the spoilers?

"He was dead?"

Sad.

wierd because another co-worker (who isn't a big comics fan, but has a basic knowledge of the universes) agreed with my colleague when he said it was a big deal. I'll find out when i pick up my comics at 4pm i guess...

Yeah, I've always wondered, does speculation count as a spoiler? What I just posted is pure speculation, but if it hadn't occurred to someone else who is avoiding spoilers, now the idea is on their mind and when they read it, it might not have the impact it would have had I not speculated. Is there and internet consensus on whether speculation is synonymous with spoilers? Just curious.

Is the concept of the resurrection that exciting? No. Its who is getting it, and what they might do with it.

Bucky was an unnecessary Cap, but I'm not regretting it.

Then again, Jason Todd is the flipside of the same coin. We'll see.

See, for me, you hit it on the head. It COULD be Bucky. It COULD be Jason Todd. Thus, the resurrection itself is completely irrelevant and not a big deal at all.

If it leads to a fantastic new series -- then THAT would be the big deal.

But another guy coming back from the dead? Especially one that's been toyed with so much over the years? Not so much.

If they brought back, say, Gonzo the Mechanical Bastard it could be exciting, but definitely isn't a big deal.

Its all personal taste and attachment though. Somewhere out there a person exists who thinks the return of Gonzo is a HUGE deal.

This does contain some spilage, beware.

I just finished reading the book itself.

Yawn.

DC looks to, once again, be intending to take a step backwards into nostalgia for the sake of nostalgia. I strongly doubt any good story telling can come of this. Their desire to stagnate their product by bringing back characters that they replaced with better characters a decade, or more, ago is inane. I have no feelings for this guy. Or Hal Jordan. Or the old Superboy. They keep dredging up this old, dead shit continuity that they worked VERY hard to clean up and discard at the end of the 80's. Its bad editting. Its bad storytelling. Its trite. Its rote. Its tired. Use your own vernacular. This is one of many reasons why I barely read DC anymore.

Count me out on Silver Age for the most part.I cannot think of anything more annoying then when they explain in an inner dialogue what they're doing, as they do it. I still feel Hal is boring. I don't engage with is supporting cast. His, perfect supercop archetype is not very interesting, his main rivals in his books are very simple archetypally and have little depth and Hal, himself, is very simple archetypally and has no added dimension. Jets are boring. Fighter pilots are boring. Their need to try and connect him to this psuedo-military lifestyle isn't interesting. Nothing about Hal is interesting to me.

Are those guys about to fight over Cher?

Fred, it seems like most of your posts recently are just pithy one-liners.

Just an observation ;)

Oh, is it Top Gun? I still haven't seen that.

I haven't seen it since I was 10. I'm not sure if it's good or not.

I have the plague. One or two lines is about all I have the strength for. Also, it just came out the other day that Tom Cruise used to date Cher in the mid-80s. Pithy but relevant.

Put that shit on a tombstone.

Top Gun is the epitome of awesome.

How dare you mock such a film, Paper.
