Ok, so I am new in here. I am also a few weeks behind on the podcast, but as I was listening to the 4/15 show, Jeff was talking about his theory about geeks like us having a skewed view of life. As Jeff put it, our generation (and I am a bit older than most on here I would imagine, at age 37) seems to want to be the "I found this cool thing first" type of crowd. I have to agree, but I think it is more than just the nerds.

I used to work in the music business, and one of my observations was that our generation as a whole has the "I discovered band (fill in blank) before they were cool" attitude, and as soon as the band made it big, these folks would slag the band off for "selling out." I think the same thing applies to all aspects of our generation's likes and dislikes, and I found it interesting that Jeff discussed this as it pertains only to us nerds. I really think it is just our generation as a whole, and I don't quite get it.

I know people love to be first, but just like slamming Boll when you haven't seen his (horrible) films, it just gets to be a bit much when people voice their ooinions without having a basis. Nice one Jeff.

I definitely agree. Although I'd call those music fascist types (me included) nerds too, just as much as sport fans are nerds. It's that obsessive hobby or interest that consumes a big part of your personality. And projecting superiority is just human.

Yeah I guess I can see your point in labelling those music people as nerds in a sense. I don't know though, it just seems to be pervasive. It just seems that we want to be the first to know about something, and the first to show how cool we are by tearing stuff down that gets too big. I think the whole Uwe Boll thing is kind of funny, because he is doing what he likes, and if people don't like it, just don't watch it. What is the point of signing a petition to get him to stop? As far as I am concerned, good for him for making movies that he feels passionate about. I personally don't like them, but I am sure somebody is watching them.

I imagine most people don't love his films, but asking him to quit making movies? Granted he invited it upon himself, but does anyone really think he is going to actually stop, even if one million people sign off on the petition?

Second place is first loser.
