It's actually pretty hard to hold a camera still at arms length. You can buy a little tripod for a couple of bucks if you want to make a self portrait.

So.... Which type of photos are preferred?


I like the first one...

You look great. You're easy...on the eyes.

However, I am going to be a little critical about the photographs themselves. Just a few small details to help improve how the camera sees you.

The pictures are nice because the subject fills the frame. However, you want to be careful when you do this. Lenses with short focal length tend to distort facial features. This makes noses, chins and other body parts appear larger in the picture than in real life. When possible, move the subject away from the camera and use a longer focal length. Many of these digital point-and-shoots have impressive zooms. Nevertheless, the subject's face looks well proportioned in these photos.

The subject's face is well lighted. However, the direct flash leaves an unsightly shadow. Use natural light, another lighting source or move away from the wall. However, you want a neutral background, so taking the pictures outside on a cloudy day or 30 minutes before sunset would be awesome.

It's nice to see that you've moved the camera around the subject. You can often improve the subjects representation by using different angles. Consider moving the camera slightly above the subjects eye-line as well. Make sure that the subject looks straight and only moves his/her eyes toward the camera. Avoid taking pictures from below the eye-line. The distortion I have already mentions will often make your head look tiny.

The lovely picture behind the subject is distractingly crooked. You don't have much control over this so ditch the picture.


Probably to much information. But, I love to see people experiment wit their camera.

Which type of photos are preferred?... and with those pics it suddenly dawned on me why you look so familiar ... you are a dead ringer (look identicial) to my wife's former flatmate that she shared an apartment with when we first started dating. In fact it was through her that I met my wife to be.

Self portraits are great and all, but you really need to have someone else take the photo for you - you can only get so far away from the camera ... and I imagine that you are better looking than the MySpacesque photography shows.

The Wii has a really glossy finish, so its just like a white board, so I used a dry erase marker and it came right off.

Haha..Interesting you ask, I have never had the problem and still don't have the problem. I can play it with both of the cabinet doors closed and everything and no over heating. Its odd but I bought mine the day it came out and have heard all about the overheating problem but have yet to ever have it shut off on me.

I look completely different with a beard, to the point where it was an issue travelling between US and Canada - so this time I made sure I had a beard when my visa photo was taken ... so my passport photo is me clean shaven, but the visa photo is me with a beard. Hopefully that will fix the problem.

Last year a group of friends and I started up a new holiday. Stachegiving. It's a holiday that calls for BBQ and mustache growing. If you don't have a msutache one will be provided for you. Since there was an issue of what the date was going to be (we try to get it as close to Thanksgiving as we can) I ended up not growing my own mustache, so this one was drawn on me.

Needless to say it was the best fake mustache of the event, a title that I held last year as well (last years included two clouds and a rainbow that made up my stache). I'll post mine from last year as well as the group picture when I find them.

Well, it's been a long time since I went trilling for chicks in a club. I never liked that anyway because you can't really dazzle a girl with your sense-of-humor if she can't here you over the music. Many geeks have gotta use the humor. Nevertheless, never underestimate what desperation and few beers can do to an estimate of a women's suitability.

In any case, you seem nice.. both in and out of make-up, clothes and photoshop. I appeciate the humility, but accept the complement in the spirit in which it is offered. People arn't usually very nice on the internet unless they want something from you.

I know Moshi_what personally, and she's still hot at 6am in the morning with no make up. She plays video games, watches cartoons and listenes to geekdrome. Of course she's taken :'(

Although I met girls who I remember were stunning when I first met them, then on the first date me being sober and the sunlight does them no favours.

What kind of camera are you using? If you try bouncing the flash off the ceiling or a wall you might have more luck. You can't do this if your flash is fixed forward.
