PS3 Lite

I love my Xbox 360 but also hanker after a PS3 , having seen pictures of a slimmed down version of the PS3 in the Uk magazine T3 I thought i'd wait until that came out before paying for a new machine.
Does anyone know if this slim PS3 is actually going to appear sometime this year?

That was a concept picture that has no bases in reality.

Going by report from Sony & IBM it will be at least another year before they slim it down. This last 6 months the CPU & GPU both have been shrunk down to 65nm; and the blu-ray diode has also been decently reduced in size. A 45nm CPU design has been complete but we don't know when they're actually going to be rolled out. The mother board is also being shrunk, but I haven't heard/read anything recent on that.

I never even heard of this so I googled it and looks like a she said he said "insider" rumour and the pic looks like if PS2 and Wii had a baby.
And doubt Sony can make a slim PS3 this early..I am sure PS3 will make a slim one eventually but wait another 2-3 years as the technology ages and they are able to fit it in a smaller case...I seriously doubt that anything like this will happen this soon otherwise current PS3's need a massive drop in price.

It will happen, but not for at least 2-3 more years. It happened with PSone and with PStwo... so you bet they'll release a PSthree.

Sony wont come out with a slim ps3 until near the end of the ps3 life cycle.You like they did with the ps1 ps2 psp...

The slim products just keep the range fresh once it is nearing end of life, so as already mentioned wont be seen for a while yet.
