I have nothing against people wanting to wait for the PlayStation3. hell if I had the money I'd camp out the night before. But these people have been camping out for a week now, in front of Circuit City nonetheless, waiting for the PS3 release Friday at 12 a.m. -itis to go quick picture with my phone while I was in the city of airline was really close to our line for tenacious d. I just went by the Best Buy near my house, man there was a line already forming. The Best Buy is not even 3 months old and already they have had a

Nothing. This poster is simply up to date on the latest gaming news. Sony actually is suggesting that they might sell the entire game (cars and tracks) to gamers exclusively through microtransactions which put conservative estimates of total cost to around $900.

The "Premium" version will ship with 30 cars and 2 tracks, "Basic" will ship with no cars and no tracks. You'll need to purchase and download the autos and roads to do anything more than look at the pretty menus.

Given the cost of the 750 cars ($.43 to $.85) and the cost of the 50 tracks ($1.71-$4.26), complete copy of the game will cost gamers somewhere between $426.50 and $975, on top of what the actual program costs. I think it's mostly speculation at this point and who knows what it will be really like. There's been a fair amount of debate on the topic. edit: walked past Futureshop, the main store at Dundas and Younge and there was a huge group of people camped out in front of the store. Not sure why as whatever was there was clearly sold and gone... maybe they simply can't handle the seperation anxiety of leaving all the other guys that they were waiting in line with. If you presold one from an EB, walk in Friday morning and throw down $600 bucks because you want to play some games then you're fine, and kinda lucky. All anybody talks about is the value of the system in terms of money and I'm tired of hearing about it. I have nothing bad to say about anybody if they're buying a console for it's entertainment value.

The Gamestop I work at is only getting 6 systems and we presold 8. My boss canceled 2 preorders from the customers who would be the most pissed off because both of them were going to resale the system. We potentially just took an upwards of a thousand dollars out of their pockets so we wouldn't have to deprive a kid of his birthday present or some college students out of their gaming experience. I don't think it's fair that a bunch of losers are grabbing all of these up, to sell to even bigger losers with deep pockets while the rest of the world reads about it non-stop on Digg and in forums like these in amazement. I guess I'm just a person that really looks down on greed, especially when it's so widespread and publicly accepted.

I also gave up my own paid off Wii preorder so we wouldn't have to cancel a customers due to a shortage because Im in a position that I can pretty much get one any time after launch from work. Instead I'm going to Best Buy or Wal-Mart this Sat. night because I wanna play Zelda right away. Nobody reads about stuff like that though. Digg is full of stories about how Gamestop and their employees are ripping you off this season while hundreds of assholes are getting attention for degrading themselves to make less money then they could if they had a decent paying job and went to work the same amount of days they're spending infront of a store.

I personally feel it's wrong to judge the intent..whether you're buying the machine to flip it or play it. Last year my brother paid good money for his X-box to pay (he ended up having to buy a bundle), this year he's trying to get PS3 to flip it and raise money for his big screen television. If you have the cash and the time to spend in line then what you do with it should be your business.

True. But I think there's a little more to it than that. As much as Sony has been ridiculous over the past year, one thing they've been smart about is not killing their cash cow. There's still a host of reasons to own (and even to buy new) a PS2. Not including third-party exclusives like GH2, FFXII, Buly, et. al., Sony is still supporting the platform themselves with first-party releases: SOCOM, God of War II, ATV, etc.

What was the last game MS released for the Xbox? I can't think of a single one since the 360 launched--or even ones released shortly before its launch.

I can just imagine a kid waiting in line to get his hands on the PS3 so that he can go home and finally play the system he's been waiting for all year for the first time, then gets up to the front counter only for the cashier to say, "I'm sorry Timmy, that was our last one".

I will never argue that for entertainment, coolness and cute games nintendo rocks. But I do have to say, when it comes to graphics and gameplay that's a bit more hardcore, they consistently fall short. I'm going to love my Wii, but my PS3 is going to kick major ass!!

Actually if memory serves me right, nintendo has usually been the technically more advanced system.

In the 8-bit era it was the clear winner, but it was technically way inferior to both Sega's Master sistem and NEC's PC engine (It was an ultra powerful 8-bit system not 16, like most people thought aswell as myself), but it was more powerful then the atari 7200. Anyway the Super Nintendo was technically superior to the Mega Drive or as you kids called it Genesis, with it's fancy scaling and mode7 capabilities. The Nintendo 64 had technical whizbangery that the PS1 couldn't do. Also the GameCube has better graphics capabilities over the PS2.

Also I think the kiddie stigma of Nintendo is still stuck because of the censored version of Mortal Kombat, as both Nintendo 64 and Game Cube had it's share of adult games, no?

My friend came back from his wait in line way early in the evening.... He was third in line and somebody paid him $1200 for his SPOT in the line.... My friend wants the PS3 but he wasn't retarted.... He took the money.. :)

Launch linup is nowhere near strong enough to justify a week campout ..

hell the like 2 people on that line who aren't turning around and hitting ebay will probably just play it for a week and then put it away until new titles get released.
