Gears of War 2 - Gameplay Video Debut

Hey Everyone,

Personally, I like it. It looks like more of the same but perhaps a little more epic in scale. At one point, you see a bunch of Locusts, more in one scene that anything in GOW1. It looks like it maintains that same cinematic feel as GOW1. Personally, I'm pretty pumped for this game. GOW still stands out as a game that signaled the arrival of true next-gen gaming. It's still one of the best looking games of this generation. Much like Alex said, I'd pretty much be happy with more of the same. You can't glean too much from this little snippet, but I'll be watching for more info and footage as the release gets closer.

this is exactly what I want, no major changes, just a few tweaks and an epic spin to the already tense, and immense gun fights.

I really hope we will be able to use people as a bullet shield in multiplayer as well. That uzi thing looked sweet, but chainsaw duels seem like a bit of a gimmick, I suppose they might deter chainsaw spamming retards.

That video was pure badass! I love the fact you can use the locusts as a human shield. Can't wait for November

Looks awesome. I really like that its outdoors and a lot larger in scale than the last game. (at least that level is, anyway...) I got a little tired of the close quarters stuff by the end of the first game.

I wonder if the multiplayer will be less boring than the first game's this time around.

I think it looks rad. I know he's over the top, but I can't help but like Cliffy B's geek gamer love for his projects.

There's a lot of bitterness around for the Unreal Engine at the moment. I think the Too Human lawsuit stuff has tainted some of the media's views on unreal engine games. Dennis Dyak has been pretty vocal in his disdain. All I know, is that the engine works a treat on the 360 and these guys do it better than anyone (as they should, they built it). We're still waiting for Too Human, so maybe there's bigger problems at Silicon Knights than the Unreal Engine? People tend to bag the first game for it's story, but I really enjoyed it. It didn't try and be something it wasn't and wasn't overly complex. I really saw it as something akin to "Predator". Just a bunch of roided up soldiers making smart ass quips with some great action and set pieces. I'll be happy to step into the shoes of Marcus Fenix once more.

You said it yourself "they built it", they know what it can and can't do and whats necessary to make it do what you want it to. I don't think there is a problem at Silicon Knights, Bioware struggled too, rather I think that Epic in their enthusiasm to market and sell Unreal as middle-ware didn't really fill these developers on it's limitations and how to use it effectively.

Gears needs a deep narrative as much as Puzzle Quest does.

Looks great to me. I was not a huge fan of the original, or I should say not a huge fan of the originals multiplayer. However when I watch this video, at least the single player looks to be fantastic.
