the DS is fantastic.
it makes people think about different new and unique ways of gaming input. there are so many games that absolutely should be played, ninja gaiden, final fantasy 3, crystal chronicals, the world ends w/ you, prof. layton, advance wars, castlevania, geometry wars(great w/ stylus), etc there are so many great games that the PSP cannot compete.

though, when I return to america I will get a PSP and get god of war and final fantasy for ti because I heard those games are great. also the PSP is a pretty damn good media player so if you dont have a decent ipod or zune you may like the idea of taking your videos and music w/ you on your PSP...

The DS has a few really fun games, and then the rest are Pokemon or similar type games.

The PSP does more than just play games. The slim versions can be plugged into a TV so you can play your game on a TV. You can played video on the PSP and use the TV out to watch them on a TV instead of the little screen. If you have a PS3 you can link them and stream media to your PSP from anywhere, and watch it on a TV using the TV out. You can play PS1 games this way as well.

And then there is Skype and the custom firmware.

Will be buying a DS again very soon, because they're just crazy fun. I've only tried the PSP out, never owned one, so I can't say much about it, but what I've experienced wasn't very exciting. In comparison to the DS, as a game console, what I saw was unimaginative and boring, which I think is echoed in the game lineup for the machine.

There might be a upgrade to the ds come this e3 so I might hold of on buying a DS right now.

It also depends on what kind of games you like. Are you a big fan of nintendo games? Mario,Zedla,Metroid.

Do you like RBGs?

Do you want to play video and music on your handdled.

Care about homebrew?

I need a little more detail to tell you what system you should buy.

I own both and I loved both of them in diffrent ways.

For most people the answer would probably be a DS, but for me it's PSP. I really like the DS, but I found very few of the games interesting, and as time went on fewer and fewer new releases interested me. Most of the games are catering to a young and casual audience. There are definitely enough good games for the system to justify the purchase though.

I'd bought a PSP at launch and ended up selling it for an iPod touch. I never played games on the PSP, only really using it to watch video. Right before thsi past Christmas I ended up selling my DS so I could buy one of the new PSP slims, and I'm playing games on it all the time now. Crush, Patapon, Crisis Core, God of War, Wipeout Pulse are some of my current favorites.

The PSP is great as a portable video device, good as an MP3 player and poor as a web browser. i haven't tried the Skype capabilities yet. I use the internet radio functionality all the time, and I listen to a lot of my podcasts using the RSS capabilities.

I have both and play my DS more. But the PSP has some new games that I would like to play God of War, Final Fantasy, GTA. Both are great portable systems.

I don't have a DS, so my opinions are biased. However, I'm pretty sure we did this thread a few days ago, and lots of people posted lots of good info there.

I'm all for DS. I've been thinking about the psp, but there just isn't enough there yet to satisfy me. The DS, however, has a million.3 awesome games.

I so wish all the previous threads on this could be put in a folder and stickied. The DS is a great gaming unit for pick up and run games. The PSP has much more functionality and more mature games. Both the DS and PSP have homebrew options that you can run, but I'd say the PSPs homebrew options are larger. The DS has a larger exclusive library with many great games. The PSP syncs well with the PS3 and can be used to stream movies, music or photos from your PC through your PS3 to your PSP over the internet. The PSP has a skype application and can play movies directly to your TV (as long as you get the new slim version.

All in all it depends what you're looking for. DS is the choice to go with if you're looking for a cheap pick up and play video game platform. The PSP is a much more robust system, but the price tag reflects this.

I think of them the same way as I think of the current gen systems. The PSP gives you that multimedia experience and some great games that take advantage of it. The DS gives you a fun experience that is different with the stylus and the Nintendo proprietary games.

Just read this thread in the link.

if really lazy then I will just copy and paste my response from that topic.
DS has so any RPGs and had FFIII and currently Square is remaking FFIV only this time with voice acting and more CG cutscenes and eventually releasing DQ9.

Also some great games that are very hardcore is Ace Attorney series 1-4 and the upcoming Spinoff game with Edgeworth and this may Jake hunter detective chronicles...DS is the best handheld for RPGs and point and click genre and interactive novel games oh and it also has Hotel Dusk two great castlevania games and another in development and Ninja Gaiden is out.

Then of course the Nintendo games and the good 2D sonic games in the Rush series plus you can play all your old GBA games and yeah the oh so perty apple ish design.

Never played the Brain age stuff but hear it's fun.

Not saying Skip the PSP as I don't own one (yet and I do want one ..great system with great games as well) but just saying giving a brief FYI that there is more hardcore games on it than is given credit, there is tonnes..just knock all the petz games off the shelf and the rest is cake

I will also add that DS has also new games announced regarding the genre I mention in that topic like Time Hollow and released a new RPG from Square enix called "the world ends with you" and is set in a future tokyo and uses the art style very similar to Jet Set Radio.

And Platinum games (ex capcom talent from RE series,Devil May Cry,Clover studios(Okami,Viewtiful Joe) making a game very star trek sci fi ish Sim like thing where you take command of your ship called Infinite Line.

Go with the PSP. hands down the best bet for the money. A lot of REALLY excellent games and WAAAAAAAY more functionality than the DS. Plus if you hack it you can play pretty much any game from any system including the PSOne and N64.
