This show just gets better and better. I'll also note, that I believe this is the first time the phrase "whack off" has been uttered on a rev3 show other than diggnation.

oh jeese, i mean...

FIRST!

This is the first ep of the Digg Reel that seemed... well... sick.

I know there are lots of sicko sites out there that exist to show gross videos of people dying and so forth but I'd hate to see the Digg Reel come to that.

A thinly disguised veil of hero worship doesn't cover the fact that for most people the racecar video was just an excuse to watch someone get burned alive.

Similarly, I can even understand wanting to watch the video of the guy falling from the bridge from a "holy crap that's nuts" perspective, but playing it over and over again and trying to make it funny... I don't know...

Just curious - was there audience laughter? Was Andrew laughing? I didn't know that "playing it over and over again" means you are trying to make something funny. Because it couldn't be that it was giving you a better view of what happened in slow motion and zoomed in since the original is from a wide angle.

A thinly disguised veil of hero worship doesn't cover the fact that for most people the racecar video was just an excuse to watch someone get burned alive.

Where did you get "hero worship" from? What you have in your mind is what you think people get out of something. You're saying don't sell cars because people commit crimes in them - it doesn't make sense. If it wasn't mentioned I would not know there was someting in the car, so it wasn't exactly "an excuse to watch someone get burned alive"

I, along with others I am sure, was touched by the video. I never heard about this, and even hearing about it wouldn't do it the justice that the video did. It was sad, yet heartwarming to see this man doing all he could. Ultimately sad, but it showed human nature. And I don't think it can be considered in as poor taste as say, if the video of Steve Irwin's death was shown. I think it was handled very well.

Agreed. Every day, I scrub through each episode that comes out to find a good still image for a homepage promo. I often do this with the sound off so I don't always catch the context of the videos right away. When I saw the video of the burning race car, I actually turned on the volume and watched the whole thing through. It was more so about compassion, and not so much about being morbid, although yeah - it was really sad to see what happened.

Then I proceeded to watch the rest of The Digg Reel and ... I've got to agree that it's coming along nicely. Love the changes that are being made to the show. Go Speidy and Jelly D! And JDERT, too. :)

Great episode. Loved the editing and the pacing and Andrew has gotten much better with each episode... he's found "the spot" and now there's only one way to go, UP! Keep up the good work.

Definitely enjoying more of the interactions with the videos. I even enjoyed the cheesey flight segment at the end of the episode (it provided a nice LOL moment).

Keep in mind that all Andrew and co are doing is culling through the top 5, or so videos on Digg. If the show starts taken a turn towards rotten.com, don't blame Digg Reel. Blame the people on Digg, for they are the ones who thought it was worth watching.
