My question is to the four Rad dudes and to the rad community what are some of your favorite bands or genres that you think are rad?

( and i do understand some won't like my type of music or others peoples music, but were not here to hate. Just to share) :)

Some bands that i like are The devil wear Prada, In fear and Faith, Circa survive, Saosin, As Blood runs Black,The Fall Of Troy, Enter shikari, Attack Attack, August Burns Red, In Fear and Faith, Cold War Kids, Agraceful, Burden Of A Day, All Time Low, The Faceless, Killswitch Engage, Portugal The Man, and many many more.

I listen to just about everything, but I'd say that my favorite genres are progressive rock, alternative and SoCal hardcore. As for favorite bands/artists ... Rush, Bad Religion, Jonathan Coulton, Darling Violetta, Boa (the British altrock band, not the J-pop singer), Frank Zappa, Ayreon, Stream of Passion, NOFX, The Dead Kennedys, Spock's Beard, Men At Work (I'm a child of the 80s), Joe Jackson, Jethro Tull, The Police, Sarah McLachlan and I think that's a long enough list for now. lol

Too much to list for me, I like a wide varity. BUT on the lines of music here is something I thought was kind of funny and kind of RAD related.

I used to commute to Montreal a lot (well actually St. Bruno .. anyways). Someone gave me an old mixed audio CD with some various techo songs on it, Well trax 12 had this james bond theme song techno remix and I always used to play that just before I hit the tunnel. It always felt like I was in a video game speeding through the tunnel in a rental car listening to that song.

There are good stuff in every genre, I think, with the possible exception of a swedish genre called "dansband".

The "Top artists overall" list of my Last.fm account (http://www.last.fm/user/VerbalKint/) should give you an idea of what I listen to.

Wait.. where was all this when that last music thread came up and everyone just liked Spoon and all that stuff?

Anyway, nice to see some harder stuff being listened to by TRS fans. I was afraid I was alone.

Love seeing The Devils Wears Prada, August Burns Red, HORSE the Band, and Portugal. The Man. being mentioned. Props to those who listed those awesome bands.

I'm a big fan of hardcore, metal, and anything in between.

Lamb of God
Killswitch Engage
Norma Jean
Inhale Exhale
Slipknot
The Chariot
Hellyeah
Jesu
Tool
Bleeding Through
IWRESTLEDABEARONCE
Unearth
Poison The Well
Maylene and the Sons of Disaster
Every Time I Die
Stone Sour
Misery Signals
Martyr A.D.

I could go on and on... I almost want to start a 'least favorite band' thread, so that I could throw Radiohead and Spoon at the top of my list. :D

My current flavor is:

Octopus Project
AA. Kurtz (sweet chiptunes)
AIR
The Go! Team
Ratatat

Check out http://trash-can.net/ most of the 'bedtime tunes' are good for some nice relaxing music.

I've been listening to the mashups from BootieUSA.com (A pus D, King of Pants, Party Ben)
Best of Bootie 2005 is a good place to start. also monthly "top 10" in the bootie blog. already have 2 Gb of music just from them.

and no matter how old it is. I cant get enough of the Katamari Damacy soundtrack.

Stubadub, I love your list, many of the same music tastes. Pretty much been a FNM/Mike Patton fan from the beginning. I've had many an opportunity to hang with those guys in the past and it was a thrill of a lifetime. Right now and for the past 10 yrs have been a huge Sevendust fan. They have taken the place of Faith No More as my go-to/favorite band. I don't stray too far from what I've already been raised on. Starting from childhood with Led Zep/Sabbath/Queen-then to some early hip hop/r&b/rap in the 80's/90's-then heavy into the grunge bands(still am)-to current day "Nu Metal" stuff! And since I was a kid, I've always listened to and loved classical music. You can catch me listening to streaming classical(Pandora/iTunes) to KUSC here in L.A.
