Hey everybody...

This is my first post here in the TRS forums... and I come looking for help!

While I have watched Diggnation and TRS from the beginning I haven't really gotten into the Forums scene... but now I will get to why I am posting here now. I recently graduated from college and I am got a job in Columbus Ohio. Sooo while looking for some good information on where to move in the area, I came across a lot of websites that didn't really seem to fit with me.

So I started thinking about where to go to find people that are like me, and I thought of how I usually agree with everything Jeff, Dan and Alex talk about on a weekly basis and most of their fans do too! So after seeing a bunch of people from the Ohio area, I ask you... where should I live?!

Originally from Philly and went to college in Pittsburgh, so Columbus won't be a big change from those... just don't know anyone from there right now so I didn't know where to turn.

Thanks for any help!!

Opps... thread name is supposed to be Hello... not hell...

Welcome to the OH! I've lived in Toledo and Columbus. It really depends on what you want to do and what you want to be around. Personally, I think Toledo is great because you're about 45 min from Canada, which is awesome. If you're gonna live in the toledo area and want to live in the more upscale areas, I suggest either Sylvania OH or Temperance MI (just across the border. Toledo has some fun stuff that goes on every year such as the Polish festival, the zoo's christmas lights, concerts, etc. Since you're in a fairly big city and within a fair distance from detroit, you get a lot of good concerts within an hour drive of you. As far as Columbus is concerned, thats where I currently live and have lived since January. Its pretty nice and there is def. stuff to do. The weather is a bit more mild than T-town b/c you dont have lake erie feeding the storms. There seem to be a lot of parks, etc around here so thats a plus. As far as festivals and things to do, I'm not very informed on that stuff yet. All in all, Columbus has turned out to be a good place to live and we recently bought a house so we're stuck here for at least the next 5-10 years. Hope that helps!

Thanks, but my job is in Columbus, so I don't want to travel far to get to work. I'm definitely going to move around Columbus, just not sure what part of it. Did you live in any apartments prior to moving into your house that you enjoyed?

Ah, didn't pick up on the fact your job is in Columbus. It depends on where you want to live. I lived at Forsythia Court Apts in Westerville (northern suburb, very nice). They were cheap, clean and the staff was really great.

My suggestion is to stay out of the actual city for apartments. Look in westerville, easton, worthington, or dublin. Where you working? Some big companies have special discounts set up with some apt complexes. I know I got $100 off my month's rent b/c I work for Chase.

I'm working for this company called CGI, it's practically in the heart of Columbus on 88 E Broad St. Thanks for the tip about Forsythia Court, like I said, I have no friends out there and have actually never been to Columbus.

My interview as in Washington DC, so I don't know what the office is going to be like, the ages of most of the other programmers and all that stuff, it is a little scary!

I'm disappointed I wont be moving out there til September and will miss Mc Chris's show that is coming up soon. I was thinking about visiting, going to the show, and doing some apartment searching ... but we'll see.

I live in Buckeye City, aka the 614, aka Columbus.

Dublin, Westerville, Worthington, Easton. Those are by far the best areas. Grandview isn't bad either. Don't be detered by the drive to downtown from any of the before mentioned areas.

The 614 can't even compete with the 330.

Pro Football Hall of Fame, anyone?

...No? Fine. NE Ohio is boring. But we're suckers for Hall of Fames.

Wow... this has gotten far more Ohioans than I expected... which is awesome. Thanks to everybody for the advice. Maybe when I move out there we could have a TRS fan meeting and buy whoever is of age a beer.

I loved westerville but just bought a house in city limits. The trick is to be within walking distance of one of the 'nice' areas so you get all the benefits w/o paying taxes out the ass.

I'm totally up for a little fan meeting. Consider it a welcome to the neighborhood

PS - dont be swayed by all these 'buckeyes'. Michigan ftw

LOL it was interesting moving to Pittsburgh after being an Eagles fan all my life... it is funny cause I am already a Bengals/Browns fan just cause the Steelers fans in Pittsburgh annoyed me so much. They are insane! I just gotta convert myself to be a Blue Jackets fan... I just converted to Pens, so hopefully it won't be too hard to change again.

My family is starting to get the picture that I keep on moving farther and farther away.

Silly goose. I'm from the happy glove in the north, of course I'm not a buckeye... I'm a spy sent here to learn the magical ways of Jim Tressell :P
