For those of you that have never heard of it, The Amory Wars is the comic series written by the band Coheed and Cambria's frontman, Claudio Sanchez. The band's songs are all part of a sci-fi story spanning 5 albums, and these comics coincide with that story.

The first five issues of it (which are a telling of the first half of their first album, The Second Stage Turbine Blade) are now available as a trade. I really enjoyed it, but then again, I am a huge fan of the band and have tried studying the songs to get the story before the comics came out. I'm afraid the comics move a little too quickly for people who do not already have the basics of the story from the music.

So... I was wondering if any of you have read the Amory Wars and what your opinions of it are. I'm interested to see if these cater to people that aren't into the band like I am.

I know they are different things, but I thought the comic book had a different feel than the album. "Oh dear God, I don't feel alive!" makes the stuff on the ship with Coheed and Cambria seem tragic. In the comic it had more of a "Hey babe, lets kick some ass and take over the ship" feel. I liked the comic for Good Apollo more. It just felt more like the story in the music. I still enjoyed all of the comics though.

I really want to check this out as I'm a HUGE Coheed fan, but I gotta finish up Watchmen first. It'll be interesting to see if I get it, since I've listened to their music so much, and really feel the mood of the story, but I'm really not sure that I grasp the full narrative, hopefully the comic can clear it up a little for me.

BTW, I'm seeing them live next week, can't wait!
