I was wondering if anyone has gone through a similar experience. My wife obtained a copy of the new Death Cab album a few weeks back (note it didn’t come out until this week). I wasn’t too thrilled about it. I am kind of burned out on their last album and I wasn’t crazy about the new single. So one day when were running around town, I put it on and I really liked it, minus the new single. I started listening to it more and more and it quickly became one of my favorite albums of the year so far. Then the album was actually released and I wrote a review on iTunes, but while I was doing it, I noticed that the track times were different than the ones I had. Then I listened to the samples and they didn’t sound anything like the version I had. It sounded like the same band, but different songs. So I did some research and found that about a month back, some one posted a fake version of the album online. There were only two real tracks, and the rest of the album was by a band called Velveteen from Germany. They sound a LOT like Death Cab. So I went and listened to the real Death Cab album once. Then I went back to listening to Velveteen because I think their album is better. Apparently the fake album leak was pretty wide spread, so I figured someone else had to have listened to the Velveteen album. Check out their website to listen to the entire album. http://www.velveteen-music.de/homewaters-page/start.htm
