Just found a new site that previews some of the new stuff:
http://www.missionmetallica.com/
Some of the riffs sounded pretty cool, cant be worse than St. Anger at least :D
New album in September :)

Did I actually hear a Kirk Hammett solo?
And it sounds like Lars is actually playing a real snare drum rather than the empty paint tin he used on 'St. Anger'.

Metallica should stop making music. I love their old stuff, but they should just stop.

Liked Metallica when I was younger. And yes, St Anger was an abortion of music

It's amazing how quickly they were able to destroy all good will towards them within a matter of minutes during the Napster fiasco. On Diggnation when they mention Metallica giving away their music for free everyone boos, then when Trent Reznor's name gets mentioned everyone cheers. Back in the 80s Metallica was one of the most respected bands in metal. They rejected MTV, radio, the stylings of other metal bands, and just came out in their jeans while they played balls out good metal. At this point that band seems to be long gone.
I don't hate St. Anger with the fervor that most people feel towards it. There are some moments in their that sound like great ideas, but the album is damaged by the intentionally shitty drum sound, lack of Hammet solos and insistence to use Bob Rock yet again in the producer's chair. I actually have some hope that this time around things will improve.

St. Anger was more Metallica than Load and Re-Load were...
Anyways, I used to be a HUGE Metallica fan, even saw them live with the wife (well, we were in high school and not married yet). They weren't too bad, but Hetfield made most songs sound country-ish. And they did a set of four songs acoustically, like, Four Horsemen and others I forget.
Anyhow, these days I just don't really care.. Jason left and I had already kinda left before that, though I did pick up St. Anger because of the DVD.
I still listen to Megadeth, as they seem to be doing the opposite of Metallica - getting better with every new album. Saw them live too, more recently, and it was awesome. Highly recommend both The System Has Failed and United Abominations to anyone who didn't like their older stuff.

MetallicA died with Cliff Burton. I always wonder what they could have accomplished if he had never died.

They accomplished "And Justice For All" without him, which for me is easily their best album. If only they hadn't mixed out so much of the bass. That album is screaming for a remaster.
I seriously think Robert Trujillo is a great addition to the band. He is more skilled than Newsted is and has the right sound. Now if only the band itself can find the right sound again, we'll be in good shape.

For me the worst change to their live sound was James' voice after the voice lessons. I preferred it when he didn't know how to sing.

ehhheheh
Well St.Anger was the worse **** i have heard really, Load and Reload could have been half decent if you combined them both into 1 album with the good stuff :)
I have my hopes up for this next one though. :)
That being said, their concerts is still pretty awesome :D

I'm kind of excited for it, not as much as many other things, but new music is always fun.

My thoughts exactly. :)

Stubadubb, I think we're like brothers or something. Justice was by far their best album. Metallica will never - never - be able to match or surpass it, with or without Cliff. I loved Cliff, but Justice is just amazing begining to end, even without bass at all. The drums are the best they've ever been, and sound the best they ever will (especially that kick).
The vocals were still good on the black ablum, but yeah, the voice lessons shoulda been taught by Bruce Dickinson, if you ask me.
I don't know if Dave Mustaine took lessons or what, but his voice has seriously improved tremendously with the newer albums.. Like I said, opposite of what's going on with Metallica. It's a shame that Dave wishes he never got booted from Metallica, as I think his stuff is better on his own.. I wish I could smack some sense into him.
Metallica's concert was good, but both 'deth and Iron Maiden were better. ;) Wife agrees. I wish I had seen them during the Justice era though, that would have been freaking amazing.

Yeah, my mom wouldn't let me go when they came through Memphis on that tour. I had to wait to see them until the tour with Guns n' Roses and Faith No More. That was one of my first shows so the whole experience pretty much blew my mind. They were the live standard for me for a few years, until I saw Tool. :D
I just found out that Iron Maiden is playing an hour away from me next week, and I'm struggling with whether or not I can justify spending another $85 on concert tickets right now, specifically on more concert tickets for shows that my wife cannot or does not want to go to. I've wanted to see them since junior high, but we've spent money on tickets to Radiohead, Tom Waits and Nine Inch Nails within the last week.

I would pay to see Iron Maiden again, for sure... They played the entire AMOLAD album when we saw them, and several classic songs. I love that album, and when they started with the opening track and then played the second, and then the third, I knew I was getting what I had hoped for - the full album. :) I'd also like to see Megadeth again, but we were 2nd row from the stage for that, so that's about as good as it gets. I wouldn't care about ever seeing Metallica again, but Tool is definitely a band I'd like to see.. I won't really go out of my way for them though... I do have plans to try and hit the next Skinny Puppy tour, assuming there is one, if it comes through Ontario at a decent time of year, financially for me. I loved the stage performances from Iron Maiden and Zao. Saviour Machine was also really good, but the best performers were Norma Jean (when I saw them, Josh was still the singer, and he was climbing all over the place, and they were called Luti-Kriss). We also wanna see Demon Hunter sometime.
