I call bullshit. $800 to produce one 20 gig PlayStation 3. bullshit. This is their promotional way of saying, please buy our system were giving you everything for nothing were hurting. I don't hate PlayStation 3, and I do plan on buying one. But this is just stupid. I guess that's what I should expect from J. Lo

I don't know about buying 5 and selling them (though you could stand to make a lot of money) but do go get in line... it seems really geeky, but its totally fun!

It could be the most powerful machine out on the market, but it wont mean dookie without a good game. I'm not a fan boy of any system, i love them all, im just saying, i dont care about graphics, in the end its all about gameplay, give me a game that handles well and u sir, will get a costumer.

People have been talking about this for the past year, just not with specific dollar amounts but it's always been Sony's game plan to take a big hit on manufacturing costs.

Losses don't impress me. Games, on the other hand, do. (and lack of expensiveness..:D)
I'll probably wait until I actually have some money before I get anything. I'll probably go with the Wii. Nintendo fanboy for life!

How much cost was Microsoft eating when they first released the Xbox? Cause if it was about the same, than obviously it's not a big deal since they're doing great now.

Wasn't that the same gameplan with the PSP? Apparantly it costed heaps more then $200 to make and that's what it was selling for in Japan at launch. Then nintendo came out with nintendogs and nobody cared how much superior Ridge Racer was, and I predict the same with the Wii. Some silly game with charm will come out and nobody will care about processor power, but the fact that they have a remote they can swing around to do funky things.
Anyways as someone pointed out it's the games. The PS2 could hardly out perform graffically against the dreamcast, but I reckon it's games on the eyetoy and games like singstar, buzz and guitar hero that made it's bulk of profits.
